best tyres for 60 quid and under

To make this thread really useful for now and the future, can anyone commenting on tyres please also list previous tyres they've used on the Leon, and their experience (and possibly price)

Simply saying falkens are the best means nothing without endorsing your experience with other tyres used (sorry if that sounds offensive, i dont intend it to be, just want this to be a useful thread thats all)

I do agree though, Falken 452 are great as i've currently got a pair on the front and i can't fault them, i'm guessing they will be one of the top ones.

So my experience on the leon is:

Really good - Hankook VENTUS SPORT K104 (£ 98.50 - mytre)
Really good - Falken FK452 (£61.50 - camskill)
Complete poo - Marshalls (need to lookup model, and were around £60)

Got Falken FK452's fitted with my alloys at least 10k miles ago (possible 15k) - decent tyres, still fair bit of tread (though think inner wall is starting to scrub as the tracking has been shot by all the potholes/speed bumps around here) - never had any ohmigod moments with them in wet or dry - Mk1 pre-facelift LC

previous, Falken 452: great tyre until they are over half worn and then things started to get scary.

next Falken 912, cheaper but not as grippy in the wet or dry.

current, Enduro Runway 916. Very cheap and encourage you to drive carefully.
Put another way, these tyres are not suitable for a powerful car as they lack grip and spin up very easily.
On the plus side they don't wear very much and should be suitable for my burnout sessions in Le Mans this year

Hankook EVO V12's are £61.90 in that size and they are a very good perfomance tyre. The German car magazines always give them a good review, they tend to beat most of the big brand names.

I've only run Eagle F1 GSD3's on my LC, and love them, tho the price is a little on heavy side. Only real downside is they do seem to go from sticky-icky to a touch sloppy when the tread is getting on a little.

I'm thinking about these next as the current F1's are a little tired.

Very interesting, the hankook sport ventus ko13's would really BITE when regaining grip after a bit of spin, the EVO's are cheaper (i think £73 on camskill for the 18's)...not under£60 though

Are the Falken 452's good for the money or good compared to the likes of Bridgestone and Goodyear etc.

Has anybody tried the Conti Sport 3 tyres?

I'm looking at a set of starfish alloys which I really want as im not into the cupra multi-spokes, but they are listed as having 205 45 17 tyres on and need 2 replaced, but if they are meant to be on a 225 45 17 instead I dont want to be fitting any 205's, but 4 new 225's dont come cheap and I shouldnt really buy the wheels let alone new tyres so i'm not sure lol.

I guess what I should do is be sensible and stick with the 16's that are on it, but the 17's are sooo tempting.
