best mpg on a long trip

just got back from surrey and managed a fantastic 54.2 mpg what have other peopole had the trip took 3. 45 hours!

yea could have done it in 3 but went for a tdi type of fuel consumption lol

yes everything did lol but its quite satisfying knowing that if you wanted you could just put you foot down and pull away from them

lmao best i got on average1 is 54.8mpg though my car is overdue a service!! and i was doing about 65 most the way

i took my time and remembered what clarckson did in that A8 was going about 50 all the way and using lorries to sit behind and get pulled along. also very carfully put my foot down!

I regular get that sort of figure Gaz, and dont drive like a saint either to get it :D

Tho that is impressive and there is no way on gods green earth id have managed to get that from your petrol car!!

i was really pleased when i hit 47 mpg then i just wanted to get it one higher and one again and it went on all the way home the instant was saying aroun 60mpg most of the time but then when a hill came along went down to 40! i dont think ill be doing it again tho!

i get about 65mpg cruising at 60mph for 20miles so would get bout 68mpg if i drove to lincs at 50mph all the way there.

Thats VERY impressive but i cant believe you drove at 47mph on a motorway, thats kind of dangerous :think:

I know the mpg is supposed to get better with a remap but didnt know it was that much better

I average at about 34mpg but i dont drive that slow, not by any means! Once on a mission like that though its hard not to keep at it so i can understand why you did it

i haveraged 47 but on m25 i was doing about 60 behind lorrys so that helpped it was on the a1 i was going bit slower not many cars on the road tho!
