Best indiuction kit for mk2 FR ?

Hi there,

Couldn't find it anywhere on forum, what do you think is the best induction kit for mk2 Leon FR ? I know there's a huge range at the moment, all manufacturers claim their one is the best etc. Can someone recommend one. What I'm considering the most is ITG one (£350) forge twintake (£350) and I even seen HKS induction kit which looks really promising but it's very hard to get and cost like £500 ;/ Any suggestions ?

Cheers,

Prez

depends what you're looking at from it? If you want the loudest then either the Neuspeed P-FLO (very popular in the states) or the Evoms will be good. A lot of people on this forum run the ITG setup and people seem very divided on the Forge twintake. Performance wise there really is not going to be that much difference between the intakes maybe 2-3bhp difference across the range. All options are less restrictive than the standard airbox and panel filter. K&N have a product out for the 2.0T engines as do pipercross but these are rarely opted for by owners, I don't think there's a reason other than they were a bit slow off the mark to make them and not really pushing their product into the VAG stores.

What about that HKS induction kit, it's for mk5 Golf GTI but it should fit mk2 FR as well. I't very rare here, so it makes it quite special :)

I'm strongly considering neuspeed kit from awesome gti. £500 for engine cover, induction kit and extension, since I can't find HKS kit anywhere

I got my neuspeed from awesome, comes with a heatshield too to minimize heatsoak from the turbo underneath the pipe. I'm not sure about getting the cover though, looks good but very expensive and it's going to retain engine heat.

I wouldn't even consider the HKS at that price but some people like exclusivity :)
Plus they're a bit like pipercross and K&N as in they make a lot of applications and don't have a very dedicated VAG programme like neuspeed etc.

I saw second hand on ebay for £150 but acution was ending early on Sunday and i oversleft ;/ you right, I may just get the neuspeed kit, does that extension bit make big difference ? it cost like £170 alone so wonder if it's worth it ?

The extension is def a waste of time... all it does is puts the cone filter a little bit further away from the heat source ie engine. What i've done is run cold air ducting from the grill next to the fog lights. This means all the cold dese air low down is forced up the piping towards the cone. £5 from diy store or even fork out £20 for a pipercross one from halfrauds.

what about Simota ? there is a new kit one ebay for £150 but I haven't heard about that make.

I think Simota are a Jap filter brand? Never seen them on a 2.0tfsi. Seen them on mk4 golfs so they are a known brand. For that picture looks just like a cone filter in carbon housing.... there's no pipe or anything? I'd assume for it to work there needs to be other parts to the kit! Probably a reason it's £150!

Perosnally I can't fault my neuspeed. got mine from awesome gti, top guys.

Cheers but ITG is so popular (I know there's a reason for that), I want to have something not many people use :) Do you know if that BDM kit is as good as they advertise it ?

Have you considered the maf scaling on what intake you get? I think theres only the ITG, twintake, and bsh true seal that have the correct diameter pipe work at the maf, i don't know about the HKS tho, it seems that this can be important to the running of you car!!

pretty sure the neuspeed is dimensionally sound and housed correctly. plus the neuspeed is one smooth pipe rather than a load of bits put together.

if you've got the money go for what you want looks wise, cause performance wise there is nothing... considered making your own? Go one better than forge and make a 'TripTake'
