Belts

I’m considering a method for cambelt replacement that I believe could be effective. The procedure would involve trimming the existing cambelt to half its original width, then carefully sliding the new belt onto the pulleys alongside the trimmed section.

Afterward, the remaining portion of the old belt would be removed before tensioning the new belt, thereby preserving accurate valve timing throughout the process.

Could someone confirm whether this approach is technically sound?
