Hi All,

Should my 2000 LC have a cover over the battery and should it be fixed down currently it just moves from left to right freely about 10" abnd doesn't seem to be stck down.

I have a velcro cover over but not sure if i should have anything else

no they did not have covers, - only the velco type cover.

but it should definately not move about, in fact that is an MOT failure.
It will cause havoc with the electrics if the positive or negative terminal hit anything.

Check the clamp at the bottom of the battery is done up correctly.

you dont need a pic:

open bonnet, look vertically down between battery and back of headlight, you may need to pull velcro material out of way a bit, but you will see the bottom edge of the battery which has a bit of a lip on it. You will also see a rusty bit of metal, about 6cm wide with a single bolt head in the middle of it. This bit of metal should sit on the edge of the lip at the bottom of the battery so that when the bolt is tightened it clamps down on the battery lip and holds it in place.

This is pretty much how most batteries are held in place on most cars.

no...

here you go, this is a picture of a clamp on an old golf... you can see the rusty bit of metal sitting on the edge of the battery lip. This one is slightly different as it has an allen key type to tighten and on yours it wont be on the end of a 'tower' but instead a bolt head straight on the metal clamp.
