Battery kill switch/ignition switch

I am wanting to wire up some switches in my road/track car, but need some help.
I am wanting one of the switches with the red keys to kill the entire battery off for an emergency use, but then just a little flick switch for the ignition.

So I am guessing for the flick switch for the ignition, its a simple case of splicing into the ignition wires that run to the key barrel?

The red key/battery switch is a bit more complicated I think and this is where I need help. I am going to have my battery in the spare wheel well of the car so i thought all i have to do is run the +ve battery cable, down the car, through the switch and then on to the engine bay, and then just run an earth from the switch, to the chassis of the car, simple. But I've soon discovered that its not that simple and you need a drain for the alternator etc too, has anyone any experience doing these and where I can wire it too/from etc?
Cheers!

I did one on a horse box
All I did was run wire from the live terminal to cut off switch and then cut off switch to the main live off the horse box I did use a bigger amp power cable than was fitted to the horse box
It worked fine and stopped the battery drain that was on the van

Do you mean FUSE box?;) Okay so leave the small fusebox in the engine bay but relocate the battery itself into the boot and then switch the wire that goes between? Do I need to earth the switch at all?
Also what about power surge from the alternator, people say you need to wire up a "run off" for the alternator if the engines still spinning but the battery line has been switched off, theres no where for the power to go so you need to have a run off but im not sure how it works?
