battery dead and car not turning on

Hi.I recently locked my car key in my var with the ignition on.The battery ran completely dead.I have put it on charge for the 10 hours but still nothing happens in the car.The radio won't even come on or the lights in the doors won't come on.Does the car need to be reset some how.Any ideas will be mauch appreciated.

is the key still in the car with the ignition on?

if so it wont charge the battery like that...

spare key? AA? RAC? Brick?

I have got car open with my spare.I am now charging the battery with a charger from Halfords.There is no key in the ignition.The battery has been charging for the 10 hors but when I try to turn the radio on,it doesn't turn on.Hope this helps

It doesn't sound like the battery is being charged properly.....

Car systems need a certain level of voltage to operate.
