Battery box question

Quick question about the battery cover on the Leon - can the fabric jacket cover over the battery be replaced with the hard plastic box with the proper lid, as fitted on the older models? Wondering if it is a straight awap, or whether the battery tray is different.
Many thanks

Battery tray's are slightly different. Don't know if they have the same mounting points? Maybe the plastic box fits the new tray?
The fabric/insulation covers are actually beneficial to AGM battery's - as AGM are more susceptible to cold and hot I believe than regular lead acid batteries.

All lead acid batteries suffer with increased temperature. It's the chemistry.
I would suggest the insulation, such as it is, is designed to keep the battery cool when the engine bay gets warm(maybe) and at a uniform temperature(probably)

Fun fact, each 10C rise in temp halves battery life.
