Baby Seat on Recaros

Guys, these babies really arent as bad as you think lol. My son has never once thrown up in my car, and even a nappy explosion hasnt ended up on his car seat. Just make sure you've always got a changing mat handy in the change bag ready for those emergency changes on the back seat (or front as we've sometimes had to do) so at least you know whatever the little monster has produced, it wont end up smudged across the interior!!

Its when their a bit older you have to worry more, they spot you chomping away on something and they have to have some. Then you end up with lovely mushed up food all over the car seat, and if your lucky enough dropped/rubbed all over your seats and floor. In which case the baby wipes are a life saver before it all goes cement solid and welds itself he he

I do wish sometimes I could keep my Golf, cos the leather interior is so much easier to wipe clean. But im sure its just going to be a case of a good clean and vaccum every now and again to get rid of the lovely mouldy food bits that he's scattered around. Thankfully we dont have to sit and eat in the car very often, McDonald's is no good for the diet, so there arent too many opportunities for him to re-decorate my interior!!

Ok, I've had some great news that I'm gonna be a Daddy!
So i need to get ready and start planning,
Problem 1. Baby seat, I've got Recaros front and rear and i need a baby seat that fits the rear seats!
Has anyone had any past experiences of this,
and yeh, i've searched but no defo answers!

1stly Congrats...my Josh has just turned 2, and put a smile on my fash everyday i get home from work!!

Right Car Seats...
I started off with a Graco rearfacing seat that was part of a travel system, and had the base that is left in the car. This makes for uber easy removal, especially when the little one is asleep after a journey, and you don't want to have to mess about with seat belts and wake the wee-person up (you'll soon learn that when they're alseep you DONT wanna wake them  )

Once Josh was old enough / big enough to go into a forward facing seat I brought a Maxi-Cosi PriorFix (CLICKY), it's a bit expensive, but is one of the safest on the market, with the extra support of the front leg!

You'll find that the rear-facing seat will probably do you till 9months - 1yr (depending on how quickly the bambino grows ;) ), so that'll give you a few moneys to budget for the next stage.

I also have one of the growing seats that goes from 9mnths to 11yrs, which is a backup (if the mother in law wants to take Josh out), but I wouldn't reccomend these, I just don't think they're as good. I've always been of the opinion that one should buy something to do the specific job, not something that does all sorts...

Anyway, once again, congrats on the news, if you haven't already, don't find out if it's a boy or girl...it makes the big day SOOO much more exciting, just means you buy all the vests / romper suits in white until you know!!

Good luck!

I am a fully trained babyseat fitter with certificates from britax, maxi cosi etc. And i'm just up the road from you! I know the recaro bucket seats may cause a problem, and the fact is noone (and especially not the manufacturers can guarantee they fit every car) I know this as I had britax change some things on their website after I disputed their advice.

PM me if you want any info/advice. When I was selling them the one I would always recommend are the Maxi Cosi Priori XPs for various different reasons, namely the safety rating, however these seats are only suitable from 9 months and above. Another option is to consider the Britax first class as it can be fitted both forward and rearward facing which means a newborn can travel in it and will do them right up until they need a booster seat! But they are notoriously difficult to fit in some cars so I would need to see the car. Alternatively PM me and I can give you the name of a fantastic fitter who works in halfords in hamilton!

Due to number one son growing out of his first baby seat (Mama's and Papa's system with base) we bought his forward facing seat. After initially REALLY wanting a Recaro seat we settled on the Maxi Cosi Priori Fix same as DMMSTA. As he said is quite expensive but how much cost do you affix to your babies safety and comfort in the car.
I would have easily spent more but this is the highest rated seat according to WHICH.
We bought ours from mothercare and had a very helpful girl fit it to my LCR. It is quite a lump of a thing to carry but this give you confidence in the build quality (along with the price). The padding in the seat feels very good and the cover comes off and can be hand washed.
When the seat is fitted to the ISO fix points in the LCR it is solid. The additional leg doesn't stretch too far forward and allows the passengers seat to be moved back almost through its full range.
This seat doesn't look too bad either, there are ones with planes and stuff on it but at 9 moth old Liam doesn't seem to care too much what hes sitting in.
So long story short.
Would I buy this one again, definately!! Worth every penny.
Could you live with yourself for scrimping and saving with a piece of kit like this, I couldn't.
Also make sure you get this fitted to your car, dont' take anybodies word for the fitting, get it fitted yourself by a professional (like Becky, you girls are angels) pay attention and ask them loads of questions.

If your up at 5 am you'll be tending to junior. If your not tending to junior you'll be wanting to sleep. For the first 3 months thats about all you will be doing, sleeping and tending to house/baby
It's all good fun though

Told you I would!!! Thing is he woke up at 2:30am and im still on this bloody thing! Right definetly time for bed now! Work in 3 hours! :sleepy:

In truth most car seats are fine as long as there fitted properly isofix takes this worry away as there 'clip in' and have indicatiors to show if its right or wrong.

Rememeber try to avoid Secondhand Carseats unless you know the complete history of that seat. if in an accident there recommed to be replaced! ( iknow all about this lol)

I had a Maxi-cosi Proir Isofix (altho very heavy always stayed in the car) it reclines etc and is highly rateed cost a small arm and a leg tho and was gutting to throw it away the other week. (altho you dont need to worry about that yet)

Gd luck your gonna need it - sleepless nights and pooy nappies

I'd very strongly ecommend getting an iso fix kit, saves strapping the car seat in with a seatbelt everytime, god send in the rain/hurry.

My daughter at 4 months (2 months ago) trying out her recaro her daddy could not wait to buy!

My little girls 8 months now and she's in her second stage one,
went for the diff one from you lee, the young expert plus as it still used the recaro iso-fix base, saves my seats as te iso fixsits inside the bolsters and it liftd the baby seat slightly higher so there isn't any contact.
Works perfect and babys safe so couldn't be happier!
