Auxiliary water pump not working on 04 LCR

I've noticed lately that I no longer hear the aux pump working after I turn off the ignition, not sure how long this has been going on as I don't normally listen out for it.

I've taken the car to the dealers but they seem to think everything is fine and working as it should be when I know its not.

Is there any test I can do to prove that the aux pump isn't working? Also when would the pump normally operate? From memory it used to run everytime I turned off the ignition and also if I put the keys in the ignition and didn't start the car, all I hear now is the pump try to spin around for a second or two and then stop then after about 7 -10 secs it will do the same again

Any ideas?

AFAIK the pump runs for about 10 mins normally. as you said it runs if you just turn on the ignition or after engine off.
obviously not the fuse as it runs for a bit.
See if you can find someone at the dealer that knows what they're doing, hopefully a tech not a desk clerk.
Just keep nagging, i'm finally getting my brake pedal travel problem sorted after telling them it was poo four times.

If they don't believe you, find another LCR at the dealership and fire that up.

thanks for the reply, when I spoke to them I was adamant that it used to run after every journey but they said its been looked at by their head seat techie and all was fine, lol

funny thing is I first took it to them about 6 weeks ago suggesting that I thought there was a problem with the aux pump, they ended up changing the cooling fans and booking me in to change the maf as well, took it back to change the maf and they've now found the lambda sensor needs changing, I now have to book it in again to get the lambda replaced at which point I'll ask them again to look at the aux pump and see if they have another LCR to compare, no doubt this will end up with them to booking me in again as they never have the parts in stock, doh!

Hopefully by the 5th visit I'll get the original problem fixed

I love the head seat tech bit.

With my brakes the second test drive was done but the "cupra expert" and he said it was normal. so when I threw the keys back on the desk for the third time and asked if he actually owned one and could i see the extra training cert for being a cupra expert it went quiet.

We drive these everyday and know all the little qwerks they have, the manager dealing with mine said that i probably knew more about these things than they did.

I know forums are useful but they are only a guide after all as we don't usually know all the facts.

They found a leaking servo pipe on mine while changing the master cylinder so that could be the cause of my brake problem, although the level of hand skills leads me to think they broke it while fixing it.

Good luck!

Aux water pump always running

Ive got a problem also with my aux water pump, but completly the opposite, the pump itself stays on all the time, if i leave it over night and then come back to it n the morning you can hear it still buzzing, this is causing a serious battery drain, i carried out a battery drain test, and found 0.536 amps when everything shut and locked down then once disconnected goes to approx 0.003 which is normal so im guessing something is keeping the pump charged all the time, i obtained a wiring diagram, followed the pumps electrics to the radiator fan control unit > 14 pin connector, ive also noticed that once this is unplugged and replugged in, the pump stops working as normal, maybe faulty control unit/relay in control unit sticking, checked fans operation with a/c working as normal - maybe not the control unit, checked fuses on top of battery - all ok. Control unit is then attached to Dash display control unit, ECU, climatronic control unit - replaced coolant temp sensor just in case of reading wrong and also had the unmodified black sensor - same fault - not sure what to check now, has anyone experienced same fault, replacing fan control unit tomorrow to see if its charging the pump, any help appreciated thanks alex
