Automatic Handbrake Issue

I have a 2017 Leon, and have an intermittent problem with the electric handbrake not releasing, that seems to be getting worse.

Regardless of being on auto hold or being activated manually, when pulling away the handbrake will not release cleanly.

Sometimes if you just use more revs it will release, but at other times the engine will stall trying to pull against the handbrake

Just done a scan using VCDS and can't find any faut codes.

Any ideas, at the moment I have had to turn auto hold off to be able to drive use, and just use the brake pedal on hills?

Hi Carl, cannot help with your problem but just to let you know the Hill hold has nothing to do with the hand brake, the Hand brakes work just on the rear wheels, and the Hill hold works with the brake pedal, when you press the pedal and you are stopped it puts preasure in the hydrolic system and holds the preasure till you try and drive away

Sorry wrong name, it should be the auto hold function.

Normally as soon as you touch the accelerator and release the clutch, the hand brake is released.

But this is now not happening the green light is still lit after pressing the accelerator

I had something similar about six months after delivery, found that pumping the clutch a couple of times before engaging gear then just lifting the clutch (no throttle) and the handbrake released first time.

I had this problem a couple of years back on a 67 plate Leon FR, after months of arguing with the garage and trying to get things sorted with SEAT UK I managed to reject the car, I dont know about now, but at the time, neither my dealer or Seat UK knew a fix for this, they would give me the car back and a couple of days later it would start happening again. Hope you get it sorted anyway, I know how annoying it can get.

It sounds like one or more of the clutch pedal switches are not working correctly even although the scan reveals no faults. I'm guessing that if you flick the auto handbrake switch it releases okay.
