Auto wiping menu missing from mib2

Hi guys.

Newbie here, and kind of a newbie to seat too (well ive owned my mk3 for a year or so now).

Anyway it has the auto lights/wipers, however since getting a mib2 retrofitted/a new windscreen fitted only the auto lights work (which arnt the best imo). Atleast im pretty sure the auto wipers worked when I first got the car. Im assuming as the lights work then the sensors ok, so probably a mib2 issue. Ive noticed in my mirrors and wipers menu theres only one option for syncing the mirrors. Shouldnt there be an "auto wiping in rain" option? I also noticed on obdeleven one error is "sensor not installed in correct location" or something like that?

Im guessing I just need to mess about with something in obdeleven to re enable it in the menu? (Its just hard to understand when its mostly not in english).

Any help would be greatly appreciated

An example for coding via VCDS, however you can adapt to suit any tool

You put the German through a translator. With Android you screen shot the Obdeleven screen if using the Pro, read it in Google translate as an image and rub over the text to translate. I've done that in real time. Not all of Obdeleven is in German but at times the text reverts to German on the names. The Ateca when it first came out had some esoteric parts in it if you bought them all which was an option at the time so you wouldn't find those as common coding. No sound on the virtual pedal etc.

Ah thats a great tip thanks. Im sadly going to have to buy the pro version just to sort these wipers but hopefully I might make other use of it. Just wantws to make sure that it was a coding issue first.

Ill have a play about tomorrow and keep you all updated. Its been a little while since I last had a look cant remember what is or isnt activated

So I had a play about and ive made it worse if anything. I managed to enable the "auto wipe in rain" menu, but at first it said unavailable whenever I tried to tick it. Changed something else and it worked. Well you can tick and untick it but it still acts as intermittant.

Also, I got a bit sidetracked and activated something to do with the TPS, and now my tyre light flashes for a bit then stays on solid, with no other warnings, and ive lost the TPS menu on the mib.

Ive also somehow changed the resolution and now I have an extra station on each page aswell as slightly smaller text, however if I try to swipe to page 2 or 3 of the dab menu then it just throws me back to page1, unless I use the steering wheel controls. Not even sure what I changed to do that.

This is why newbies shouldnt mess about, but ill also never learn if I dont try. I did a backup of everything at the start but I dont understand how to even restore it. Just very confusing with the layout and the german even with a translator.

Lesson in too much knowledge that old saying. If you program with the Pro you just do a bit at a time and the history screen shows what you did. There isn't a magic restore button you have to unwind the coding you have done which is in the log file. If you use the micro payment apps if there is a bug in them reversing might not work and if the app hasn't been tested correctly it may do other things. To me the micro payment apps are a liability. They rest on the QA of those that wrote them. They are now crowd sourced which means dubious individuals can upload them and if not fully tested unknown consequences.

Obviously if the unit never had the correct coding in it as a second hand unit you never know that the base point was correct to restore to. So you need the correct base point where East Yorkshire Retrofit comes in to sort it out. I've been hit by Polish retrofitters in the past as well as Walone. They promise one thing and deliver something else. Life time mapcare that turned out to be one year and traffic sign recognition translating mph signs to kilometres and squaking at 15mph as speeding. That was their fix. Took them all day to correct that leaving their place three times with an unfixed error. Reckon they loaded up the European set but other people have said too many swap codes.

Trusty East Yorkshire have fixed users tinkering in the past or other retrofitters amateur acts. That's why it's highly recommended.

Sending it to them will be the worst case option, however I am getting used to the program now, and certainly want to atleast try myself after paying for the pro.

Ive fixed the TPS issue I caused and everything should be coded perfectly for the wipers from what I can see, yet they still act as intermittant ticked or unticked. If i tick the "auto headlight control with rain" then my lights come straight on, even though its bright sun. So I guess the car thinks its always raining or something?

I thought I picked a good looking company to do it and everything else has been sweet with it, just the lack of wipers (a bit too late to take it back to them).

The secret is in the long string of the 5f unit. I think that is what we are talking about. So you get someone elses long string and compare with yours. Obdeleven Pro parses that long string by toggling 0-1. You may get text on it. Then look at the differences. Some may be specific to your car others may not be. The long string is the representation of what you are coding. Each unit has one.

Those long strings are published on the Spanish site but you will find them else. The address map or admap. If it isn't in the long string then Adaptations. They are the common ones. I believe the results of those get dumped into the long string.

There is a Leon 3 Obdeleven I think coding thread on this board or ask / check the general one. It's a question of lining up your string against a similar one and checking the differences and looking at the parsed text 0-1 in Obdeleven. You can do that offline.

Recommend you ask someone with the same car to see their long string or you hunt it down on the net then study it. If it isn't the 5f long string it will be in one of the other units. Depends whether anything got changed in any of those or needs to be.

Thanks, but I have been using that thread and still no joy. Everythings set as per the screenshots apart from the option for "LDS_mit_AFL" which I cannot find.

Also im not sure on if the wiper comfort msg bus should be set to comfort data bus or terminal15. Either way both dont dont seem to work.

Thanks for the long string info ^ I will certainly look into it.

Its just annoying it shouldnt be this hard :(

Just tried the live data and its showing this... although maybe im looking at the wrong thing as my auto lights work fine.
