Auto lights issue

Hi all,
Some months ago i did the auto light retrofit (pretty much the one in the guides on this site) on my mk3 leon. Apart from the sensitivity, with which many people have had issues, i have one very irritating thing that annoys me.
When i have the switch in the auto positio, i turn off the engine and open the door, i hear an alarm and the dash says to turn off the lights. Also, when the car is parked by itself with nothing going on, if the selector is in auto, the DRLs come on for no reason and turn off by themselves after a while.
Has anyone ever had these kinds of issues?
Is this related to the coming home feature?
I have access to an elm327 programmer so i can do coding if necessary.

thank you all

That’s weird because the switch is OEM, taken from another leon that was scrapped. I bought it on ebay and it works flawlessly when the car is on. on the other hand, i saw the option in coding to set the coming home function to automatic. It was in manual before. It’s still daytime so i can’t test it now, i’ll see this evening if it fixed it. looking on the obdeleven description it seems very related

EDIT: it didn’t work. I tried parking in the garage where lights came on. if i turn off the engine, get the keys and open the door it still dings telling me to turn off the lights

Either the light switch is wrong/defective, or somethings coded incorrectly
I’ll have to look around if i find a switch for cheap to test if that’s the case. As for coding, i tried some settings like setting light sensor to diskret, but nothing changed how it behaves

EDIT: the switch model is 5G0941431AF

I’m not sure if i understand correctly. The sensor is one of those chinese passthrough connectors with the sensor sticking out. I attached an image. It worked with no coding. Switch is a used OEM 5G0941431AF

This is not an OEM system, so how is your vehicle supposed to function correctly?
What do you mean? A lot of people have dome the exact same thing on this same forum. It’s even in the resources if you look it up. Of course the sensor is not oem. Many people didn’t have any issues with them though, that’s why i tried it

Do you have a pre-facelift or facelift? Autoscan? Link to the purchased item? If you do it correctly, you basically only need the OEM rain light sensor with gel pad and the cable to the BCM.

Pre-facelift. Autoscan i have never heard of. I looked around and it’s a pc software for disgnosis, correct? I have an obd2 dongle but it’s an elm327, not sure if it works anyway. The purchased item is unfortunately delisted, i tried going back to it this morning. At this point i’m stsrting to consider going the oem way and use the rhls sensor directly, one thing i’m not sure is how because i couldn’t find tutorials. Gel pad you mean to secure the sensor in place?

this is the mirror that i have. From my understanding i would need to have a different assembly for it since it houses the rhls sensor. People talk about changing windshield with one that has it already. If i can’t unglue and retrofit the other assembly i might just give up and stay with the sensor i have right now. Do you know if that’s possible?

It is a random Chinese part... It's just telling the car the light switch is set to on whenever it's dark, so of course you're going to get a warning whenever you exit the car in the dark as the sensor is telling the car you've left the lights switched on
But if i set the switch to manually on, no warning happens. That’s the thing. Only parking lights and auto when it’s dark give a warning. I don’t know, maybe i’ll try and retrofit the oem sensor, but changing the mirror assembly seems very challenging without changing windshield

You're talking to the wrong people, you need to speak to the seller/manufacturer as they are the only ones that know how it works and how to correct errors, if it's even possible.

If it had been retrofitted properly then we could help but we don't know how that POS part is configured. You'll either need to live with the errors or do it properly.

Talking with people in this thread i realised there are retrofit options for a proper RHLS sensor also without changing the internal mirror assembly. I bought it and will wire it when it arrives. It should work much better and support auto wipers too. I’ll update

One thing i was wondering though is: do i need a new bcm to use the RHLS sensor? I read it needs to have the pin for connector B, pin 33 for the LIN bus to connect the sensor. I’m not sure if all mk3 pre facelift have the pin or if i would need to change the bcm to a compatible one
