got it on mine, they are in grey not black so wont match the LCR interior...

but then like scott says you could get bits from audi.

depend if wires are there or not would be deciding factor if it can be done easily.
anybody fancy having there interior taken apart?

well i fitted my w8 interior light and expected to find some wires there for the auto-dimming mirror. However, didnt find anything resembling that, but admit i didnt look very hard.
There is a site out there with a guide to retro-fit one of these i am sure... let me have a dig about.

You should be able to use any interior mirror, just a case of running a live and earth to the interior light! (main thing is having the cover for the wire, to run up the screen)! (will find out this week, just ordered a toyota one) it will fit even if the hammer comes out to play

I bought one out of a S3 a while ago from ebay, it went back on about a week later as i didnt want to take the stalk offthe window forthe standard one as they never go back and stay there. And theres more than one wire. Theres loads of posts on here for me trying to find some diagrams but never did as theres about 6 wires in there!

see the link scotty - i have also seen one and it only has 3 wires, +ve,0v(ground) and dash illumination. The other wires are for the sensor and the moving of the mirror, which should all be connected internally.

Where were you when i needed you! Mind you the one i had had all bare wires, all the same colour so i thought so it!

Like the idea of modding the standard stalk, does this mean that a part of it stil stays on the window? as i havent got the car here to look at

Pabs.. you wanna do a DIY review!!!!! Fool proof of course!

haha - depends if i get one or not - but i dont like the idea or removing the old one - i can never get the mirror to stick to the glass again afterwards.
And besides, they are expensive...
but we shall see :)

Same isssues here mate - really like the idea of installing one, but dont know how to do it - just going by what i have read in that link and on here. Doesnt seem to tricky to do though.

Scotty, when u had a look, does the standard mirror stalk seperate into 2 pieces - ie one on the mirror and one stuck to the glass? Or is the whole stalk bonded to the glass and hence cannot be removed without having "issues" lol

I fitted one to my old golf and another guys golf.

Its so much easier than it looks. You use the original stalk and to remove it you just twist it off. You only need two wires to the mirror, 12v and 0v, all the others are stuff like reverse sensors etc which you dont need.

Early VW Bora's used autodimming mirrors in black and there are a few breakers that may heve them in, you need to prize the front section of the mirror away from the back to get the the connector inside but its all easy:)

ahhh, makes sense i suppose.
When u say uses existing stalk, i assume u mean stalk base (bit stuck to the window)???
The stalks they come will appear to have wiring/connections on, so they must need this?
so long as i dont have to try and rebond anything to the screen in my leon.

You just drill a small hole through the standard stalk to pass the two small wires through. I used a small section of plastic conduit cut neatly to size to get the wires from the top of the stalk to the roof lining.

My main issue is bonding the mirror back to the window, if i have to do this then its a no no for me as it never goes back right!
