the serial cable bought from hong kong just arrived two days ago,i tried it this morning with vds pro,which i burned on a cd.i created a bootable disc .
as i have just got a laptop with windows 7 64 bit and with no serial port,i bought this item from ebay italy.

the vds pro i downloaded from here:

i have installed the correct drivers and its ok,working fine.
but when i boot from vds pro disc it gives me the following error:

cd-rom device driver for ide(four channels supported).
driver version:v340
device name:banana
no devices found,aborting installation

what is the problem in your point of view?

should i get an old laptop or will it work in dos even if i have got a windows 7 64 bit laptop?

it will only connect when using DOS with a serial cbble, no short cuts..

Yep, it has to be a pure serial cable, there can be no USB involvement AT ALL. USB simply doesn't exist in DOS.

hi!
i purchased an old laptop and i installed ms dos 7.10 on it.
i've already the serial cable and the vds pro software.
i can connect my car ecu through serial cable and vds pro.
but i'm having a small problem,when i press 01 to check my control unit number,it displays me a control unit number but when i redigit 01 the control number displayed changes to an another one and then to another one again,if i continue.
how can i be sure which control unit has it got?

Can you post the control unit numbers it is returning?

I don't tend to check the engine number. When you go and check the references that you need to change, they're either the expected values or '0'. It's pretty much expected that the '0' references aren't the applicable ones.

If you read all the references from the memory locations and post them up, you should be able to see which ones look right.

It should be supported,as long as it can actually communicate then it should be able to do it. Can you read the memory locations ok?

OK, it looks like those aren't showing the correct values, the fact that most are 255 means that it's not there. Which is good because the other option is a whole load easier.

Can you read the values from 04361, 04362 and 04363 and post them?

yessssssss we did it.
the values from 04361, 04362 and 04363 were 10 and i subtracted 8 from them,so,its 2 and it worked.
