Well the im collecting the Ibiza on Saturday (22nd December) and i was just wondering what the standard sound system was like on it?

Any need to upgrade at all, also want to be able to plug in my iPod (e.g AUX in) into the speakers, anyone any ideas about this?

The Alana sound system isn't that great but the speakers aren't bad at all. Depending on which model you are getting, you might have an Aux In (3.5mm) socket next to the handbrake.

nah it doesnt which is why im trying to fit one :p

I really like the fusion stuff but cant seem to find anywhere that sells it, alpine and pioneer seem to be pretty good as well, but i think if i was (at some point) goin to upgrade the speakers i would go the fusion route as it think they look great and from what i hear they sound good as well.

I guess im just looking for a CD/MP3 player head unit with a 3.5mm jack. Around £150, ideally with bluetooth for my phone but thats not essential. Seen as though its my first car not too sure about the electronics side etc. Is it just a case of taking the unit out and replacing it? Is it something i could do myself relatively easily?

The standard radio is nothing fancy it could be a lot worse... it works which is the main thing and sounds fairly decent for what it is. The one in the Leon & Toledo is much better though!

The system has an 8-Speaker setup (Well... on some cars - mines does) which is OK for a small hatchback car.

I use a Phatbox through my headunit - if I didn't have that I'd likely change it for a better sounding radio, but as it works, looks OEM and is easy with the Phatbox I'll leave it as it is.

Never heard of the Phatbox before  They look quite good, was it easy to install and just connects to the Alana?

The Phatbox isn't a Seat thing... it's more of a VW/Audi thing (You can order one from VW for about £400). But as Seat & VW share the same interface for changer it works a treat.

Basically fitted to the back of the rear seats, cable ran through to the headunit and it's grounded in the engine bay.

It uses a cartridge which you connect to a docking station on the computer, you load your MP3 files onto it and then put the cartridge back in the car.

Now the good bit... the software generates voice prompts for the music you are putting on it - the headunit won't display what you are playing - it reads it out!

Click the link below for a video I made of the Phatbox in action! :)

id rather spend 150 on a decent new HU rather than this phatbox thing though.

Has anyone installed there own Head Unit? If so is it hard/what adapters are needed for a seat ?

been looking and cant find a thread that helps really...if you know of one can you post the link.

Just need to know what it involves really,my impression so far is its a case of unscrewing the Aura one and unplugging the wires. Then installing the fusion HU 'cage' then plugging the wires into the back of the fusion (not sure if any adapters are needed?) then screwing it back on (not sure if any facias are needed?)

Thing im unsure about is...what adapters are needed, for radio, ipod etc for the new HU to work properly? Do i need to connect it to the battery?

It's actually an Alana in the Ibiza, but search for the instructions on how to get the old one out. As long as the Fusion uses standard ISO plugs you should be ok, but you may have to switch the live feeds if you have to set everything everytime you switch off the engine.

basically im not too sure what connections are in the ibiza to connect to the fusion...e.g. if the ibiza doesnt use ISO ill have to get an adapter, i may have to buy a radio adapter etc

Anyone installed an ipod dock because im not too sure where to run the lead after plugging it in...
