At what HP level does CR need be lowered?

Hi all,

The LCR 225 runs a compression ratio of 9.5:1 as standard (which is pretty high) so at what power level does this need to be lowered?

I dont think it needs to be lowered at all as there are plenty of ihi powered wagons maybe running a stronger gasket buty hardly any thicker.
bill et all will correct me though.

if you have detonation problems them a thicker head gasket would help. Plus it would allow you to run a higher boost pressure if your turbo could handle it.

Bear in mind that an increase in head gasket thickness would advance timing on the intake and exhaust cams slightly - this may be a good thing, but work it out just to be safe.

Pretty sure its 9:1 on 210/225 motors

9.5:1 on 150/180 motors

Mine ran fine on stock CR at 1.6bar boost, VF34 IHI ~340bhp - std factory head gasket

Do any of the Engine Internals need to be changed or uprated at this power level?

Are you still running 340Bhp reliably?

Hi - so you are running 340hp on standard CR? has the car been det checked? Are u running pump fuel? Was the car mapped on the road or rolling road?
