Ashley Backbox.

Hey,

bought the 3" twin direct fix backbox from ashley on wednesday, recieved it yesterday and gathered since it was a direct fit...should be able to tackle it myself..get the old one off, thread the new one in, and go to line the front up...the hangar bars are to the side....my rubbers are straight on. Then i think bugger it I can sort it tomorow, i'll just get it on properly so I can hear it...I go to put the C clamp back over it and then realise the pipe is huge! I mean a good half an inch to an inch too big..so I took it to a tire and exhaust garage and they said the same thing and concluded I had been given the wrong part..have I? I've heard talk of a reducer pipe but for the GTi magnex..does this need one?

Thanks for the help.

I was looking at getting this backbox but i was trying to wait until someone else had it on there car to get there view etc of the backbox and the sound etc etc.

I know about the reducer for the magnex as i saw them on there website but i should think the Ashley should need one as its a direct replacement, think you have been sent the wrong part mate.

I had the same problem when I had my seirra many years ago. Ring up Ashley themselves and tell them the problem and what size the two diameters are and they will send you a reducer pipe!

the 1.4 has a much smaller diameter pipe to the 2.0's that the backbox is meant to fit.

I think you need something like a 57mm-48mm drop
