Right now it looks crap, i cut it as close to the top as possible and it fouled on the existing fascia. Now need to trim it down a bit, then extend wires and fine tune the fitment until it looks OEM+

even still if i found a modern head unit that would fit i know this would be my first choice rather than cuttin up the standard dash, it would also stop me using my ashtray as a money box which creates an irritating jingle at ever crack in the road!! :p

Its an alpine 9853 so a standard din size. Its all in and working now, not very tidy though tbh. May need some sort of fascia adaptor to make it sit properly as it doesnt sit flush with the angle of the cubby hole, sits more upright. Just a question of fine tuning it now, trimming it off a bit at a time so it sits a bit better.

in my opinion it looks gash... but i see why your thinking of doing it... but surely if you get a hu with a quick release fascia it will not look as attractive to passers by?

no point in just nicking the unit without the front is there lol

Did you run it on standard cd-changer or u all alpine? This defo moving up my list of mods, more i think about it the more i like it! Dont really like the way the HU sits on the dash conversion..

Welcome samacus! if you are really after security why not put the head unit under the steering wheel? there is all ready a slot where it can fit in and some people on here have done it that way! there is plenty on it maybe a search :p i found this thread for you made by ross i asked him for some pics for you! hope this helps you out mate! links here http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?p=2206725#post2206725
