The original spec was 505.01

507 superceeds this :) and its fully synth. You can use quantum platinum but i prefer the longlife 3! :)

You need to be careful as the oil spec is of the upmost importance on the pd engine

Be safe and go to seat! You'll get oil / genuine filter and sump plug cheaper than castrol edge

Also castrol edge is only available in 4l and the 1.9 req 4.5l of oil

Yeah i used to use oils from opieoils too but it gets rediculous. A service pack from opie oils was coming in at between £60-£70 and doesnt use a genuine oil filter

The best way is original filters and oil. VAG's spent a fortune in research for a reason

Genuine longlife 3 and filter can be had for £40-£50 saving some coin plus its what seat recommend

:)

Is there not a seat / skoda / audi / vw garage near you?

Go in and ask for 5l of quantum longlife 3 that will be the cheapest!

I paid £47 for my oil from Opie oils and that was with next day delivery got a discount for being on here and mentioning Tom and Darren. Brought my service parts from TPS and got trade discount so oil and filter and new sump plug was alot less than £60 [B)]

The Quantum 505.01 for the PD engine is the one to go for if you intend to change your oil every year like I do. The oil, genuine filter and sump plug costs £32 from the dealer. That's without discount. I am not a fan of extended service intervals and do my own servicing for a reason !!
