Always been able to put a Corsa VXR in my pocket, I found the challenge came from Civic Type R or the Clip Cup R 200R Cup R... But these are poorly driven, so lose out.

Im sure if you posted the same question on a VXR forum you would have lots of posts saying the Cupra is a slow car and the VXR beats it, swings and roundabouts mate.

for my 2 pence i think they are very closley match power wise, would be more down to the driver as to who wins this one.

My mate has a 255bhp Corsa VXR and I must admit it is very nice! Good cars to drive as well. But up to 70 I was quicker than him and mines standard, plus I weight the car down a lot!

VXR's are tacky and look overly chavvy. Build quality is naff. Interior looks like a 13 year olds space fantasy wet dream - all space ship angles and cheapness.

Not to mention i see several of them every day driving round where i live. I havent seen a single Cupra/Boca in my area at all - exclusivity is my favourite feature of my cupra :)

Recaro's are good ... but they aren't without their problems (well, those fitted in the clio sport range anyway)

wooo luke less of the 20year old hate!.... im 21 in 6 days. FML i believe, feeling old already! i had a vxr for a weekend just to test drive it had all the gizmo's on it which was available to top spec, leather bucket seats were very nice, and i would of liked the cupra to of had the same bucket seats that you get in the leon cupra now. as just feels more sportier.... but driving the vxr was just i dunno.... boring i found, just prefer the cupra so much more, more too it with paddles and that.

Not a big fan of reading about who's car is better and faster forums, think we all buy a car cos its you who likes it or them. Ive had the pleasure of having a corsa vxr and now have an ibiza sport. Regards the build quality on them its fine has loads of gadgets (if you into that) that most cars ive owned never had or only collectively.

The recaros are brill until someone wants to sit in the back as tilting them aint great and the rest of the dash is fine and looks great in piano black. i would say though the power is good but difficult to put to the road from a stand still and bad in snow.

Speed wise im not a racer but through the gears a z4 2.5 type r and clio 192 (unknown of mods) couldnt get past or keep up so it does have its good points. Never come across a seat to point that out.

had my seat ibiza 2 days and loving it though i know i wont have the power you guys do as its only 84bhp now hehe guess the days of speed is over for me plus its just the cost of running them that hit me, tax tyres rising petrol etc.

p.s yes loads of chavs kids have them now which is so dangerous with the speed of them and has ruined the look of them. hope seat deter them as much as poss

VXR is fine if impressing the chavs is important, Ibiza is a much more discerning choice :)

We thought about buying one and the wifes comment sums it up for me, she said...........

"are you really considering a VXR? Do you honestly want to look like your driving your teenage son's max power car?"

Says it all really :D

Listen whats that sound?................

Yes that's right, there no sound, its the sound of a VXR in the garage being repaired again.

 HA!

And it's being repaired because some idiot 17year old has just slammed it into a central bollard for driving like a pr!ck.

I can't really comment because I used to drive a Saxo VTR when i was a bit younger, but for the above reason - my insurance on my Cupra was cheaper than my Saxo  go figure!

The insurance being higher on the Saxo will down to insurance companies understading what type of person typically drives a Saxo VTR/VTS and what type of person typically drives a Cupra through profiling of the people insuring those vehicles and assessing claims history on the vehicles.

Saxo's are probably a higher risk in relation to the probability of a claim arising compared to a Cupra.

So pretty much what I just said then...

No it cheaper on the supra as.the.insurance companies have classed the supra as a standard 1.4 and not a turbo one. So its n the group 4 when the boc is 14 lol.
Silly insurance companies

i actualy like the corsa VXR, expecialy in that blue colour.
comes with some pretty decent kit for not much money.
have testdrove one before, they are quite punchy, especialy at low revs, in the right gear it absolutly flyes!
have to agree with some comments, they do look quite chavvy plus i have never seen a guy driving one, which makes me think it feel a bit girly :S
hence the reason i never bought one.

that said i wouldnot swap my FR for one now. :)

Spot on, My insurance is £1500 on a cupra, on the 150bhp Fr, £2600, on the boc closer to £3,500

and on my old 1.2 Corsa it would of been £1580

Have to say I am not looking forward to my renewal quote next year, incase they have caught on ha

Its all worth the risk
