Apollo blue VS Alor blue - HELP!

Hi guys,

As said above, I'm having a nightmare choosing between apollo blue and alor blue! My order started as alor but I've since called the dealer and changed to Apollo after seeing some real life pictures. Now I'm unsure I've done the right thing!

In the sun I love the apollo but in overcast darker pictures I think alor looks amazing! I guess I'm not 100% sold on how the alor looks slightly turquoise in bright sun. This has me leaning towards apollo but similarly, apollo looks boring in low light!

What do people think? Has anyone been in the same position?

Cheers

Ricky

Mine is Apollo blue! Depending on the light the shade of blue can look either really bright or really dark.

Hey.

Yes, I've been in the same position and boy am I glad I went for the alor. The colour is amazing, after 16 months of ownership I still can't get my eyes off of it. I can't even count how many compliments I recieved on it. From friends, strangers on the street. If you don't like too much attention, than it's definitely NOT for you - otherwise:-o.

Kinda in the same situation. Looking to maybe order a cupra ST, currently have a white cupra k1. So originally white was out the window, really wanted a blue car but neither colour really grabs me, Alor looks to turquoise like and Apollo not metallic.

Unfortunately this is slowing down me putting in an order. finally thinking on settling for Dynamic Grey as I do like that colour and maybe getting it wrapped in a nicer blue of my choosing. But who knows. Why Seat can't offer a broader range of colours is beyond me, surely they should have access to anything in the VAG group but maybe they are just not being allowed to!

I was in the same position and went for the Apollo. I prefer the darker tone to the lighter one and it looks great in the sun all polished up. Dont regret it one bit but its a personal choice at the end of the day so only you can really answer it. Either way its a lovely car :)
If you want something a bit different the Alor is a good choice as I really dont see those on the road.

I've just ordered my FR ST 184 in Alor blue. My parents have a 5 door FR in Apollo blue and whilst it looks smart, it's quite 'dark' in shadow or dim light (eg a very cloudy day), and the metallic doesn't show up particularly well.

However in bright sunlight - the Apollo blue looks great.

I can report that a few coats of Carlack sealant improved the finish on the Apollo blue no end - it makes it very 'glossy' and crisp, and shows off the metallic much more than before.

I'm coming from a Nevada white (metallic) Exeo, which also didn't show up the metallic well at all unless in brilliant bright sunlight (even with lots of coats of Carlack sealant), so looking forward to having a colour for a change.

I have had both Apollo and Alor in ST - FR184 and Cupra

Alor is much, much better/prettier/nicer. Fact. People comment on the colour which never happened with Apollo.

I didn't even want Alor when I came to buying the Curpa but one was on the ship and I wasn't prepared to wait for the colour I'd chosen. So glad I went for it.

Don't have anything of the Apollo other than some sad ones after it got crunched.

I'm so undecided! I like to keep my car clean and well polished and from the looks of it, Apollo polishes up nicely but Alor doesn't get that deep shiny effect being a lighter colour.

On the other hand I like being different, alor is unique!

Beginning to get the feeling I just need to pick a colour out of a hat!

Alor really looks good in the low winter sun, we had some one here in the north of Scotland, also looks really good in a well lit multi story car park and I love the look of it just after i've washed it no mater what the light is like

Having come from race blue vrs I was disappointed with the alor blue on the cupra. Went for very safe monsoon grey instead but generally don't think much of the Seat colour palette.

I like the look of alor blue, local dealer has an ibiza in alor on ramps outside the building next to the road.
The way everyone on here seems to be ordering it - it won't be a rare colour for long!

Save your money, Emocion Red is the colour ;-) Add the comfort pack with the saving...

I got Emocion Red because some woman beat me to the only other one in stock which was Lima Green. Found that mine had the comfort pack, and a real spare wheel plus I'd negotiated £100 off due to missing out on metallic. So feeling much better at getting the "cheap" colour. Result.

Oh and if there was Apollo or Alor as only colours available I'd take Apollo, ...classier. Then the fight started.

I'd say alor blue is definitely for a more out going youthful personality where as apollo blue is more mature. I had disregarded both though when I was buying mine as I felt the interior of the fr )with all the red stitching) didn't work with either blue paint.

I wondered that too. Shame they don't offer stitching (and other internal bits) to match the outside colour. It would really help lift the cabin.

As it was, I went for Mediterranean* blue!

* which seems very like Cobalt Blue I had on the TVR, which looked great.

I appreciate everyone's comments thus far!

At the moment I'm leaning towards sticking with the order of Apollo blue as I've just seen a few videos on YouTube uploaded by the JCB group and the colour in the videos looks amazing. I'll probably adapt my detailing to try and get the most 'blue' to come out when I get the car!

With nothing planned for the day I might drive down to our local vospers and have a look at the colours they have in stock

I can recommend mats and a boot protector. You can get the mats with blue trim and a blue carpet inlay in the boot protector. Total cost for everything was only just over £50 delivered with a free goodie bag (worth a few pounds).

I got wide weld, anthracite (good but should have gone black), black heel pad, red trim. I got red carpet for boot. Delivered within a few days. Carmats4u online - I'll post pics later if I'm allowed with noob status.
