We all know how much Ape likes pictures
so thought I'd get some up of me doing the surround.
I started with 100 grit paper to rub down the chrome covering, then used 400 grit to smooth it.
Then used Halfords red primer for the base.
I did 2 good coats of the primer, followed by a smoothing using 800 grit paper. Then applied 2 more layers (after letting the primer base harden for an hour or so).
I then smoothed the primer down using 1500 grit paper ready for the colour. I applied about 3-4 built up layers of the colour, letting it harden after each coat.
After that, I used the 1500 paper again to flat the paint, and then applied the clear laquer.
Haven't got any pictures of the surround after the laquer, but I'll leave it to Ape to unveil the finished article on the car
I used the same process on the front
badge also, with some uber shiney results!
