Hi all.

On my FR my AP coils seem to be wound down all the way but i want to go lower. i swear i remember seeing people who have removed the seating cup or whatever you would call it that sits at the bottom of the spring.

Can anyone help me as to the best way to do this on mine? I'm planning to tuck my 17's and run quite low, the ride height currently on the FR stock 17's is just about the tyre top on 40 profile tyres, im just wanting that bit more to really run low and tucked when i get my new wheels :)

Thanks in advance :)

You need to jack the car up and remove the spring. Then unbolt the entire adjuster cup assembly with the bolt underneath and remove that too. Put the spring back in place and lower the car down carefully to make sure the spring sits correctly. Repeat on the other side.

In future, be careful when jacking up both sides of the car at the rear at the same time as the springs may fall out of place at the top I wasn't aware of the potential issue and when I had a set of tyres fitted, the garage lowered the car back down and the springs weren't sat right. The weight of the car was resting on the exhaust instead.

or if you don't want to go that much lower take the adjuster ring off and put the rest back on

Just remove the spring as I described above, then turn the adjuster ring all the way to the top until it comes off. Refit the spring and lower the car back down.

You'll prob get an extra 5mm that way maybe, depending on the thickness of your adjuster ring.

If you remove the complete adjuster cup assembly, you could lower it another inch or more, again, depending on what coilovers you have.

The rear cup and adjuster are in the bottom right, you would be removing the blue bit (adjuster ring) from the black bit (cup/spring seat/etc).
