Scrapey scrapey all day long. Its those little humps that are the worse, the one where the wheels go either side.

Does it sound like tweeting birds? If so check the tool holder in the spare wheel, the polistiren rubs and makes that noise.

my standard height Cupra catches the speed ramps everywhere in northampton where i live. I've hit them hard a few times (due to the markings being worn and in the dark), its broken the exhaust hanger in the middle sections (i found out today after its been to the stealers), also i've managed to hit the sill on the passenger side somehow on the ramps here and put two big dents in it :censored:

Can't get mine lowered as i wouldn't be able to get off my estate

I only ever took my 52plate LC in a multi-storey carpark once. Never again!

Luckily I don't need to use them much, and I don't encounter too many speed humps on my usual journeys, so hopefully won't be an issue for me!

I think everyone has a problem with there front splitter on speed bumps. There so many speed bumps around my area i avoid the roads that i know will catch my front splitter

I had the same problem. Dont let them charge you for a new exhaust (because the brackets are part of the exhaust), get someone to weld some new brackets on. Should only be a £20 job at most.

i havent been in a multi story yet, and by the sounds of it i will be staying well away from them.

only time ive caught mine was going out of a farm shop near bath. The ramp down to the road was rather steep, i tried to get off diagonal but with no such luck. still got that awful sound of scrapping.

on the upside i had 4 litres of locally made cider in the boot :D

I got so sick of it that I've built an anti speedbump site!
it's called CRASH - Citizens Rebelling Against Speed Humps
On the site you will also see links to a petition to make councils accountable for the bumps they build. Right now they are building bumps over 100mm and even after complaints and payouts they are not changing them. The London boroughs are the worst.

God I hate speedbumps.

Let me know if you guys want some crash stickers, they're being printed as I speak.

great thread i would love some stickers! how much ?? and a little question i need to ask ???

Im going to be picking up my face lift cupra and i plan to fit the LCR splitter i have in the garage [B)] question is this -- Is the face lift bumper on the LC too low to fit a LCR splitter i.e would it scrape all the time ? im used to avoiding speed bumps as most of my cars have had lowered suspension also has anyone done this mod before ???

Someone mentioned this a bit earlier, the splitter actually stops the bumper from getting scratched, so whilst it may not be helping your clearance it is better than not having one and then getting taken by surprise with a bill to paint the bumper. By the way, the splitters are only £20 from a dealer so don't go paying £35 on fleagay!

As for the stickers, I will be trying to get a quid for them on the site, but I'm sure I could be talked into giving them away if they're being displayed prominently ;)

Speed humps, not really been an 'front' issue for me, even though my cupra is lowered. However those damn speed humps in Asda always grind my centre exhaust or cat..... it's really annouying me now as now matter how slow i go, it gets me!

Had same thing at a service at Sidlow (no more), they said it would fail the MOT (which it would), and wanted get me to buy a whole new back section as they said it couldn't be welded back on. Went to a custom exhaust guy, he welded one bracket and made me a new one in 10 mins and charged me £40. :)

In regard to the ferry... I've always found taking it at an angle, very slowly, with a look of anticipated pain on your face, should get on you on the main deck without having to go up any ramps!:)

I always thought the splitter was the lowest point on the car but its the undertray between the front wheels - 90 mm from the floor. The Splitter is 135 mm from the floor. And thats without my butt in the car...

well this thread is just the thing i needed..since my little big 1.4 has a few mods and just needs lowering, but i thought this could be an issue, even now there is the usual scrape on the exhaust
