Look forward to you replies!

I bought my LCR with an IHI conversion already done (which saved me a bunch :)). TBH Songman's is the only other LCR that I'm aware of on here that has been IHI'd (lots of beezers, LC's, golfs etc).

Mine was done at Jabbasport and I have all the receipts so can give you a rough idea:

"Basic" IHI conversion: £4k ish
(includes cast manifold, downpipe and 100cell cat, injectors remap etc, mine has optional larger P20 exhaust housing and adjustable boost controller)

Then you obviously need a cat back exhaust and a FMIC is pretty much essential if you don't already have one (£1,100 ish fitted)

Full suspension upgrade pretty much essential (mine had FSD's and springs when I got it, but not really up to the job IMO, and is the first thing I sorted). Decent coilovers, poly bushes ARB's and strut braces - £1,500 ish fitted

Brake upgrade - 2 piece front disks are recommended to prevent warping, mine has 323mm AP Racing disks and DS2500 pads (£600 odd) though Bill at Badger 5 does some nice 330mm disks for similar price.

You really need an ATB diff and uprated clutch to handle the power (mine hasn't at the mo :D, but will be ordering a Peloquin soon) , another £1,500 ish fitted.

That little lot comes to £8k ish. :headhurt: but gave 350BHP on Jabbas rollers and 360BHP on Janspeed's :D

Then there's the question of engine internals if you want peace of mind and intend to fully use the power (mine is still standard ). Ideally at least the rods and valves would be upgraded. Again if you get a garage to do it you'll be looking at £2k ish for that.

hope this helps!

Wow stew, didn't know so much was changed or altered for an IHI conversion. But its defo important to get all the essentials sorted with the conversion.

Im planning on gettin a full turbo back and FMIC before the conversion. I see the IHI kit comes with the downpipe and CAT. would you advice me to get the conversion done 1st before the FMIC and turbo back?

Cheers for you post mate.

You need a diff downpipe for it so may as well wait instead of buying twice!

my failures were heat related, warped housings etc, but I seem to be one of the few "failed IHI" club who has'nt suffered bearing failures, which is by far the highest mortality cause.

You could get the FMIC and cat back exhaust first (as the previous owner of mine did), but the downpipe is different for the IHI. As far as I'm aware Jabba's downpipe and cat is made by Blueflame, and I know my milltek exhaust had to have a new flange welded on to mate to the cat, so you may be better off with a Blueflame cat back.

If doing it in stages though you'd probably want a remap and DV first also to make any benefit from the first mods. The only issue then is you pay for another re-map when the turbo conversion is done (as the previous owner did).
Cheers

Thankfully mine seems fine so far though it's only had road use (and a few quarter miles runs) and done 5k miles since the conversion. I am hoping to do some track days once the diff is in so fingers crossed :). I think Songman's done 50 odd K in his.

One thing to bear in mind is its recommended to do more regular oil changes at this power level even if used on the road, which reminds me I should do mine soon

Well the mods i already have are stage 1 remap, forge dv and maxflow cold air induction. Its very lively as it is but been told that a FMIC and turbo back with stage 2 remap will be enough to take it to around 280hp.

Is it black with HUGE rims on it? Did you buy it from the Herts area?

The truth for me would be

Stage 1 max 260-265
Stage 2 max 270-275

Although you'll be able to find rolling roads that tell you anything you want to see.

Stealth Racing and Jabba RR's always give higher numbers, JBS is usually a good middle ground and Awesome Gti is thought to be fairly realistic.
