lol Dave, and 250 / 8 is ..... £31.25 an hour inc vat :) Tell you what if you can find someone who's prepared to sweat their nads off for less than that for 8 hours ...... pass their number on to me :D

OTOH you could just buy a PC with pads and kit for less than that and do it yourself :p

It's just taken me a good 6 hours to do the bonnet and about the same for the roof, ok i am taking my time and getting ALL the marks out but it's not a quick job. Even with a rotary I would imagine you'd not see much change out of 8 hours. I am pretty sure the pro guys on here charge similar figures for labour etc.

Unfortunately a proper exterior detail will take approximately 8 hours if done correctly, speed isn't what affects it, it comes down to making sure all the small jobs are done correctly and all the right steps are taken to make sure the end result is as good as it gets.

However saying this, Iain (Finer Details) and I do have a good offer available to all SCN members where you get our work at a reduced rate (£25ph rather than the normal £35ph plus a free upgrade on the wax used) and also 10% of the cost is donated back into SCN to help keep this site as good as it can be for everyone. :D

Hi Dave,

Without wanting to take business away from the full time pros on here, i'd be happy to have a look / do a test panel to see how bad it is / how much needs doing to bring it up to 'scratch' ....... as I say i'm not a pro and i'd not charge pro rates .... if you want to pop round one evening / weekend i'm not far away :)

Hey mate are you using a PC or doing it by hand, so to speak? I usually take about an hour for a bonnet with the PC. Or are you using really soft pads and a low cut compound? I am interested as I am learing with the PC too!

Spoke to Rich @ polishedbliss and ended up using Menzerna Intensive Polish (PO85RD3.02) to do the base work, moving up to Menzerna Final Finish Polish (PO106FF) for the finishing polish.

For the really small stubborn marks i've been using tcut then buzzing over it with more 106FF.

Apart from a few stonechips, the paint is as good as i can get it.

Have a look on detailing world about filling in stone chips... you could try on a wing and move from there if you get confident. It sounds a daunting task taking sand paper to your cars paint but some of the results youd never know the chips were there

EDIT: or you could try on a spare pannel if you got one? or can get one
