jesus 6!! are you sure all of them need to be used?

well according to wiring diagram they do.

what i got is red to 12v ignition, black to ground and orange to illumination.

then ive got green to sender, black to earth, and red to ignition.

i paired up the reds and blacks so i not sure if thats where my problem lies.

I have an autogauge gauge and it works spot on!

Have you connected the electrical wire to the sender and then to the back of your gauge? Have you screwed the sender in tightly and wrapped the electrical wire round the sender a couple of times and screwed down?

If so, is the electrical wire damaged? Is it passing through the firewall like the boost gauge tubing? Did you feed into the ignition live to power up the gauge? Does the gauge illuminate on start up? Are you just not getting an oil temp reading?

Lots of questions but trying to determine where your problem is lying

Mines worked first time as soon as i powered up the car!

Yes i've connected sender to gauge. yes the oil temp guage light up when engine is started.

i'll have to check wire to sender for damage

did you mate up you 2 red and 2 black wires?

Have you got a boost gauge also and does it work?

If so connect/feed the wires into that!

My wires are connected to my boost gauge and then down to ignition live!

You may have damaged wire going through the firewall? Was it easy or did it take you half an hour probing to get it through?

Okay so your just not getting a reading?

Have you been out for a hard blast to get oil upto temp as it takes a good 5-10 mins for the gauge to move up the scale!

If your still not getting a reading! Make sure the wire is wrapped securely round the sender and then securely into the back of the gauge!

Your ignition is fine if your getting illumination!

It seems like a damaged wire, or a dodgy connection to the sender or to the back of your gauge!

If you can rule all these 3 possibilities out then i scratch my head

i havent took car for a hard blast... I thought that as the engine temp(on instrument panel) rose to normal the oil temp should move.

Does your water temp rise before the oil temp?

Have you taken the 12v feed off the light dimmer unit to? because if you have your lights dimmed the guage will not get sufficient voltage to make the guage work.

I know because i did this, with the lights fully dimmed it hardly read anything, with the lights up full the guage read perfect. lol
