Just been looking at a 2013 SPS guide and it shows the rear sensors linking up with the SPS unit to show a reversing distance grahic (graduated bars in red and yellow).

Anyone have this option and seen it in their SPS device because the salesman has told me no it doesn't display that.

Can't get your link to load up but yes, my car has rear sensors and the garmin SPS shows a graphic as you described. I find the sensors a little oversensitive, they get insistently alarming enough that you doubt reversing as far as you can, and I usually end up with about a foot of clearance behind me when the sensors have been screaming away that I was going to hit something.

My mrs has them fitted in her mii and they show up on her SPS. But I believe if the dealer fits them after production it's not linked up so it doesn't show on the screen.

If fitted as an extra after production built, surely the dealers could "link" it somehow into the SPS system ?

Our FR Edition is on the boat but only with the Convenience pack. The wifes now decided the rear sensors are "useful" and would like them retrofitted. (she has them on her current 1.2 TSi

I did the same mate, mine was being shipped and I fancied them fitted. I can't remember exactly but I was put under the impression that if it was retro fitted you would just get a buzzer.

So you didn't get them fitted in the end ?

Yes and no..
Had the ACT 1.4 Tsi Edition retro fitted with rear parking sensors fitted by the dealer. regret they do not register on the Garmin and cannot be accessed, got a vag com and no way can it be activated (sorry)..
Have now changed to a new Cupra with factory fitted front and rear sensors and have to agree with earlier contributor the factory fit are just tooooo sensitive, but would still prefer to have them than not.
And yes both do make an appearance on the Garmin which although has got segments showing just get overwhelmed.

Hi, sorry for my new message almost 2 and a half years after the last message.
I have a Seat Ibiza Toca (2013) that came with the Garmin SatNav and I am planning on getting some rear sensors. I found an offer on the Arnold Clark that could be interesting (in the accessories part of their website). I found the offer under the Seat subpart of the website. Do you think though that these rear sensors will show a graphic on the SatNav?

Thanks,
Clem

I don't know about your model - but on later models the graphic does not display as standard. However, if you look at the Carista thread you will see that (on my model at least) you can enable the graphic via the Beta version. Certainly the graphic is more helpful than the beeps so I'd give it a try if you are buying Seat sensors anyway.

I'd think that the price to you, for a dealer to retro fit rear parking sensors as per original build would be very very serious money, at a guess £800+.
What any VW group dealer will suggest is the fitting of a Cobra kit which is approved by VW group, and as has been said already, will just give you a buzzer - though maybe also an add on display with LEDs.
These newest kits are marketed now by Vodaphone (they now own Cobra) and you can find them on their automotive website, the best ones when fitted to the car, look exactly like the factory fit ones.

I am going through task of retro fitting front sensors to my 2011 Audi S4 and it is quite expensive, roughly £300 for the parts etc, this kit I have been building up, should operate the same as original PDC with OPS, ie will have viewable graph on car display module.

Maybe have a look on the Kufatec website and Carsystems websites if you fancy fitting the real thing?

I've now looked on the carsystems website and they sell as front+rear kit with OPS for 499 Euro, but for maybe 2015> models.

If you look on the Cobra website you will find the 17mm flush fitting parking master rear parking kit being priced at £89 or for an extra £180 you can get it fitted with painted sensors.

As I said, this company is now part of Vodaphone Automotive but it does not at the moment get mentioned on that website.

If you wander into a shop selling Audi Driver, you will be able to read up on this system as it being fitted to an Audi TT is covered in the current issue.

Edit:- it looks like Kufatec do not cover this car for retro fitting "like factory" parking systems.

My 2011 Audi S4 presently only has a buzzer and rear mounted sensors, and they work well enough for me, but I am presently attempting to complete a "like factory fit" front+rear parking system with OPS.

I have fitted the Cobra/Vodaphone flush mount sensors to my 2015 fr Diesel. Not that bad to install once the bumper is removed. Not connected to the Garmin SPS, but I kind of knew that they wouldn't be but I always hoped they might. Nice subtle sound from the buzzer not too loud and invaluble when reversing lots of ballards, short posts and high kerbs in my area.

Out of interest, did you drill the holes in the bumper yourself, and if so, what tools did you use? I have already bought a kit to do that bumper hole cutting job to make sure that I'm giving myself the best chance to make it look like "factory fit".

I bought a hole punch from ebay 17mm, Cobra recomend 16.5 mm but they were £35ish. My Flea-bay special was only £11. They look pretty neat. Quite easy to do after buliding up the courage to put a hole in a perfectly good bumper.. The sensor position s were all ready marked on the bumper so you dont have to measure. The punch cut through very easily, cleanly an did not damage the paint at all, I just touched up the edge as I have white paint so you could see the dark bumper colour around the freshly cut edge, after mouning the sensors with their rubber surround it covers most of the dark area anyway.
Couple of pointers if fit the Cobra system yourself.

1.When testing the fitment of the sensor double check how proud they are from the bumper from outside. If I were to fit another set I would probably leave them 1/4mm under flush. I seem to recall that I set them up flush and when built up they stand a little proud, not much but I like to do things 100% perfect.

2. Be careful when using the cleaning cloth/fluid you get to clean the bumper before you stick the sensor ring on it easily passes to the painted side and strips the paint almost instanly.

Good luck, Jon

Good, my worst worry is getting the front bumper of my S4 lined up spot on after fitting the sensors, Audi use a couple of adjustable jacks that need backed off before the bumper can be removed. Just an observation, Audi claim to provide maybe three colours of tophat seal thing, depending on which colour the body colour is, my wife's VW Polo 1.2TSI 110PS SEL, bought new in August 2015, is silver and has black tophat seals on the sensors, as do other cars from at least VW, I did not notice that until I started checking up on part numbers for making my kit up! I think that all VW group bumpers, and maybe other marques, have these positions marked in them, which is handy. Plan thinking behind the hole cutter I bought is, as it cuts in from the painted surface, it draws in slightly the area round the edge of the holes, so there is no "bare" bumper material showing, and that coupled with the tophat, or stepped seals, leaves the installation looking like factory fit - time will tell!

Now that you mentioned it, after committing myself to retro fitting front sensors to my S4, I've noticed that what initially looked like a perfectly flush mounted set of sensors on my wife's Polo, on closer examination all four are not perfect - but I'd think that I am too lazy to take the bumper off to check if the sensors are clipped fully into their mountings.
