Anyone got the dash mount tomtom cradle

Hi, not sure what it's called, but on the top of the dashboard, in the middle, I have a "hole" under a flip up cover, suposedly for a tomtom. As far as I can tell from looking, the only way it could connect/power a tomtom is through the three electrical contacts towards the front of the hole. My question is, how does this connect to the tomtom, as they are powered by a mini usb? Is there a bit missing from mine that converts the contacts into a mini usb plug?

Also, does anyone know if any other sat navs will work other than tomtom one v4 (does a v1, 2, 3 etc work or any other sat nav for that matter.)

Thanks for any help, Tam.

That's just the preparation bit a they call it!

You need to buy a dock from seat that's about £35

Ask sere motors on here how much he charges for them

Thanks for the replies guys, eventually stumbled across your thread trotski, kinda understood it from that, was just very confused as I paid the dealer £35 for the sat nav cradle, and when picking the car up assumed the "hole", or dock may be a better term, was all that would be required, as I had specified and paid for the cradle, gonna have to go back and see what they have to say, its been a few months now though.
Also, is the dock standard fit on all mk 5's, want to know so the dealer doesn't try to say the "£35 was for the dock, £35 more for the cradle please sir."

guess what, £35 for the hole AND £35 for the cradle..... have to say I'm happy with mine even after the swearing (dealer hasn't remembered to charge me for it:whistle:) but if I did the mod to the cradle again would think about just cutting the usb plug right off the cradle and putting a lead in it's place, would give much more freedom of what sat nav to fit....

they could make a universal cradle that would fit the hole very easily, something tp mount the windscreen mount on and a usb socket with a set of short leads..... SIMPLES!

"£35 for the hole AND £35 for the cradle" was hoping they wouldnt pull that one, does the hole have any other uses? if not, whats the point in them breaking the price into two £35's! Will try pm'ing Sere Motors.

Thanks

The logic isn't completely mad. If the hole was made standard it would make the car more expensive. Also the adaptor is made to suit the satnav. If the hole were made to suit the satnav you'd need to replace the car when you needed a new satnav instead of just the adapter and you'd need to specify the satnav type when you ordered the car!

It's quite well designed in that you can easily lift out the adaptor fixed to the satnav and take both away with you.

At the moment one adapter suits TomTom One V4/5 and the other V3. Presumably at some time in the future they will offer an adapter for a newer TomTom model or even for another make.

By the way I bought a TomTom One V5 refurbished, direct from TomTom but it did not come with the latest map and there was no map guarantee and this was not clear on the Website. After an argument I managed to persuade them to offer me a free map update.
