part of the pack with xenon lights i'd expect, legal requirement for them to have headlight washers and auto self leveling. Expensive option but you're right that the lupo gti and some of the golfs and audis have xenons with heated washers as standard.

Sorry Crusoe, I was referring to heated windscreen washers, not the headlamp washers (which I already have).

Found out how much those parts are yet, muddyboots? I think this might be a worthwhile modification - it certainly sounds relatively easy to fit.

Griegd -> Will ask when I pick up my air intake today.
Niall -> When I ordered the car I was told I couldn't get the winterpack. Really wanted the heated seats too - I suppose this could be another retro-fit but a tad more complicated (and expensive) than the washer jets I fear...

Woohoo!!

Heated seats probably means replacement of seats for a completely safe installation. Then you have to add the buttons etc!!
I'm not a fan of heated seats anyway, they make me feel sick for some reason! Strange.

I have got little switches under the climatronic for the heated seats. They are being checked next time my car's in because they don't get hot quick.

I'll post a pick of the switches sometime soon.

I've just been and had a good look at the route the washer jet piping (& wiring) takes, there's not a lot to see really.

The piping from the jets is hidden inside a box section across the rear of the bonnet, and emerges from a grommit on the passenger side (or drivers side for our European cousins on here!), then disappears out of sight under the black panel in front of the windscreen.
How it gets from there to the washer bottle I have no idea - I guess must somehow route above the wheel arch liner, and where the heated jet wiring would connect I do not know.

Son -> You probably won't be able to see much more, but you might be able to peep under the black strip in front of the bonnet, and see if the wiring follows the same route into oblivion as the piping.... The rubber bonnet seal just pulls off, and you can lift the end of the black cowling up slightly to see in.

Grieg -> Forgot to check the prices, but will be going back soon when my intake bits arrive so I'll try and remember to check then.

Ah you disappoint me, mb - very disappointed.

On the other hand - it can wait. Wouldn't have much luck fitting them right now anyway...

@ Muddyboots this is of the dutch Seat Cars Site:

Winterpack
Winterpack details: Heated Seats, Heated windowwasherjets and headlightwashers 150 Euro's

My car has got the heated washers as well. There is a tube with water running into the bonnet on the drivers side of the car. Together with this tube there is a electrical cable which must heat the water at source. According to the manual this is regluated when the car is running.

Grieg -> I'm not saying it can't be done, just need to work out the routing of the loom/pipe first...

Niall -> I don't think the water is heated at source, just the jets themselves. So do the jets heat up automatically below a certain temp, or do they come on with something else (heated rear screen, for example) ?

BTW I presume your driver's side is my passenger side...

Right. I tried to take pics of the thing over the weekend but my batteries went empty. Anyway, there's nothing much to take pics of, really. The wires come out of the driver's side corner (passenger side to you) of the bonnet together with the washer hose and goes down into the battery compartment of the engine bay. From there they go thru the battery compartment wall and under everything to where the washer fluid tank is. That's at least how it looks to me when I followed the wires.

I THINK the washer jet heaters work together with heated mirrors but I could be wrong. Can go check it from the owner's manual on my lunch break or something.

I think it there must be some kind of temp regulation on them like when the bleeper that comes on when it's 4 degrees or less that they start heating.

I meant that they are heated at the nozzle somehow, like Son said. There must be something in the manual, have a look in the index at the back at washer jets.

OK I need to find out where the wiring goes...sounds maybe like a bumper off job to see, or maybe the wheel arch liner can be taken out. Both of these sound like a pain in the arse.
Maybe Andy (cpufreak) can grab some photos during the next phase of the FMIC installation...

I have got a garage, but it's used in the manner God intended (ie full of crap!).

Also, as I leave for work before 6 in the mornings, the clatter of the garage door, and the cars doors opening and closing as I get in and out while I manouevre, would no doubt annoy the neighbours....

Actually the main problem with the jets freezing is after I've been driving for a while, the windchill of the airflow over the jets is what freezes them. They're normally OK when I get in the car.
I've tried very high strengths of screenwash, but the jets still seem to freeze at speed.
