Has anyone got heated washer jets on their Mk 4 ?
Maybe they're fitted on the new Cupra ?

Anyway, the heated jets and the wiring loom are listed in ETKA and I'm thinking of fitting them, so I don't suffer from frozen jets again all winter.

I was wondering where the loom connects to...any info/pics would be appreciated !

I haven't even got the car yet!! This sounds cool though so I hope you get the info you need. What is an ETKA by the way??

ETKA is the Seat parts catalogue that the dealers have on their computers.

It should be a fairly easy upgrade to do, but although ETKA shows a diagram of the wiring loom, there's no indication of where it plugs into. Also I don't know how much it would cost, that might be another factor....

Are they going to be fitted on your car then Grieg ?

Oh right - did you contact a dealer then or is this EKTA available to those in the know? ;)

I'm pretty sure I won't have these fitted - I didn't even see them on the options list. Maybe they're fitted as standard on some of the sportier models? I seem to remember that the Lupo Sports/GTI's have them (I could be wrong though) - in which case owners of those vehicles might be able to help you with regards to how they're connected up.

It just sounds like a useful item to have so I wouldn't mind looking into it for my own sake as well as to help you out.

I take it the washer jets on the Ibiza are the normal modern VW group type - i.e. they clip under the bonnet?

Yes, usual VW washer jets under the bonnet edge that get knocked off easily when you wash it with a sponge...

You just made me remember my mate's got a fairly recent, highish spec Polo, that might have them fitted. Good thinking...

ETKA is only supposed to be available to dealers.

Aren't the heated ones only available with Winter Packs?

I've never had my jets freeze up so I'm going to give this one a miss, although I did consider doing it some 2 years ago, when I got my first MK4.

I wanted the Winter Pack when I got my car, but was told it wasn't available. Not sure if they are available on new models yet or not.

I have quite a long journey to work, starting on roads packed with quarry trucks and yukky spray - last winter they kept freezing every day, regardless of how much screenwash I used. It gets quite dangerous when the salt has covered you screen, and you just end up smearing with the wipers....

I no doubt will find that freezing up is a common thing...remember I was a student last year and shied out of going to college when the weather was nasty!

Yeah its probably part of the Winter Pack.

Seat are pretty good at hiding and not selling some of there options. I have a Mk3 Ibiza and they offerred a Winter Pack for that, which includes a number of things, including headlight washer jets..... but I didn't find this out until after I bought the car, and so far I've never seen a Mk3 with the headlight washer jets.

Excellent !

Any chance you could have a look at the wiring loom from the washer jets, and see where it connects to the car ?
If you could get any pics of the jets/wiring loom I'd be eternally grateful.

Thanks

Have just been looking at the ETKA diagram, and it looks like the wiring loom contains the washer piping too. The wiring looks like it passes through the same large grommet as the piping, so I'm guessing the connector must be somewhere near the washer bottle, in the wheelarch.

Part Nos if anyone's interested:

Yes please, some pics would be ideal, if not - just a look to check where the wiring/piping goes.
Many thanks !
