I noticed that Widdy had also had airbag light problems and wondered if his had recurred? ( My reference was the first Altea sold by Kings in Portsmouth! ) Overall apart from the airbag niggle I'm really pleased with the Altea in both forms and still love to drive it. Regards Chris[/QUOTE said:

Did mean to update my original posting.
Yes the got the Airbag light incident resolved on the second time. Light came on again about three to four weeks after the first time. Trip to Kings, Portsmouth and they stated the drivers seat side Airbag was at fault, so booked in for the Saturday Morning and problem resolved. All work done satisfactory and done with the minumum of time delay.

Hey guys - a lurker here. We've had our Altea 2.0 TDI FR for over 6 months and I've been browsing this board ever since.

On the whole I'm very happy with the Altea, I like the fact that we've bought a great 'all-round' car which only a few other people have thought about. Whenever I have a passenger they are always really impressed and they love those FR seats! Great for long distance drives.

One major niggle:
Airbag detonator problem, which due to a european part shortage meant that the car spent a month in the garage. But after haggling (see other thread) we got a Seat replacement car (which we added 1500 miles to by going to Ireland - so I suppose that was a result in that our car is still a low milage baby!).

Minor niggles:
A little bit of early squeaks to the dash. But to be honest this now seems to have settled down or I don't notice it anymore.
Speakers are awful - a bit disappointing on a top spec car.
CD jumps far too much when driving on a bumpy road!

In general though it is a great car. Perfect for the family, but equally at home when I need it for a business trip and mile munching on the motorway. The car has now begun to loosen up nicely after a few long journeys and I am looking forward to a family trip to Scotland when I can put the load lugging and long distance hauling ability to the test.

Most of all I enjoy the speed for what is our baby mobile. Its lots of fun watching the surprised faces of middle aged businessmen when the FR boots away from their rep mobile! [B)]

Before we bought ours there was a fault on the screen with the airbag, it was a switch fault which was replaced before we collected the car.

I think the speakers in the FR as very good:shrug: they give very good base and sound.....ours is a 56 plate so maybe they changed them compared to an 06 model?

OK, I'm 3 weeks and 1000 miles into life with my 2.0TDi Stylance and I love it! No problems at all so far despite the baptism of fire with the recent rain. The only negative I can find is that I seem to find myself peering round the windscreen pillars at junctions and roundabouts. Engine is quite vocal through the gears but calms down when cruising. Some hard plastics on the door trims but all well screwed together.

I have found this site by chance. Have had my Altea since new and have 25k miles on the clock. It is an 06 plate 1.9 tdi stylance.

I have had a few niggles with it concerning the air con draining into the cab, a flat spot at about 1800-1900rpm plus a leak in the drivers door. The first two were sorted no problem but the last one they could not find a problem with. I have also had it checked at its last service for grinding from the rear brakes but was assured that there were no problems to be found.

Having come back from holiday i have now noticed a rather annoying whine coming from the turbo unit? Does anyone else have this problem and should i worry about it?

So saying i have to say i love it. It looks far better than any other small MPV on the market and really does turn heads. I have had 2 Scenic owners come up and ask me what i am driving then turn to me and say that they wished they had seen the Altea, because they wouldn't have bought the scenic1 I did smirk, being an ex-scenic driver.

One other question. My nearest Seat garage is 50 miles away, but my nearest VW garage is only 7 miles away. Does anyone know if you can have your car serviced at a VW dealership without it affecting the warranty? Would save me a lot of hassle if you can.

I purchase a Sport at the end of May, paintwork very good, not found a manufacturing blemish!

Bluetooth works well, although signal does drop out more than my last car (a Ford). The voice commands can get irratating tho and i found myself swearing at this dissembodied female voice, that then insists on telling me my available options, can be amusing, a great shame if that option has been dropped.

Several niggles though, aircon sometimes sounds like a cricket with a sore throat (guessing that a cricket with a sore throat sounds like....).
Rattles from drivers door.
Really cr*p speakers, must get round to changing them.
occasional slight hesitation on acceleration in the upper gears.

Overall the car is fun to drive, had the false floor included in the deal, find that very usefull. The comments made elsewhere about the trim being plasticy are valid, it looks ok, but it is cheap. I suppose if it was a case of the 'toys' or better trim, I would rather have the 'toys' hey I am a boy after [B)]all!

Would I buy another? I dont know yet, the juries still out.
