I've read through the other threads about guys having oil probs but can't seem to see any with the same issue as i'm having right now.Basically, the car(180T LC) is using a fair amount of oil, prob topped up a litre or so this last month,no leaks i can see,and only way i know it's losing oil is when, and this doesn't happen all the time,i'm driving along and ease off the throttle, then when i put the foot down again,i can see a puff of blue smoke in my mirror, any ideas as to what the problem could be,cost for solving it etc, have it booked into dealers on wednesday, but would like an idea up front.
Cheers guys for any help received.

Turbo dumping oil in the exhaust system or piston rings not holding oil back in the combustion chamber. Maybe oil flooded in from crankcase breather into the turbo tip. Drop your intercoolers and check if theres a little oil in there and that it just needs to be drained or a lot and you have a bigger problem, start with removing the hose that joins the two coolers from beneath - very easy job - remove engine bay floor, undo 2 large jubilees and two bracket nuts.

Diagnosis will be expensive it always is and cost is what ever they charge depends how long the garage takes and then how much their labour rate are etc. blue smoke is oil being burnt off generally a bad sign but there are less problematic causes. check the oil in the intercoolers clean it out and see if its any different after. Any other issues with the car?

Hi mate, thanks for that, unfortunately,i ain't that competent with car mechanics,or have the tools or space to carry out any 'real' inspections. As for the car,it is running fine apart from the oil 'smoke puffs',although i have just done my very first logging with vag-com,so am looking for some feedback by all you guys who are converse with it.Will post the logs up as soon as i can.
Cheers.
