annoying rattle

I have searched the forum for possible answers to this but i dont think any posts cover it, so basically windows up i car sounds fine all windows down i can hear a rattle sounds metal to me so not windows as they are all the way down.

Only drivers side window down cant hear the rattle, only passenger side window down i can hear the rattle. Only happens when going over drains or bumps.

I have shaken my exhaust about quite a bit and it doesnt make the noise i have pushed the back end of my car down and it didnt make the noise.

Could it be the brake shims or anti rattle things in the brakes at the rear or something else

also it seems to be coming from the back left of the car i.e where the exhaust is

By what you are saying the problem seems to lie with the passenger side window. can you hear it with the back passenger side window down and the front one up?

no its under the car at the back

any ideas or is it a garage job

If you have access to a ramp then have a look underneath before you take it to a garage. If you are lucky it will be something obvious.
Does it happen over bumps or just normal driving?

If it was an internal rattle, then it probably is the side interior light glass casing. it doesnt sit flush and therefore rattles, i pulled mine out slightly and cured it.

no its exterior and from under the car and from the sounds of it from the passangers side of the car and at the back

ok i have changed my mind the sound is more of a clunking noise than a rattle
