a spare pair of wheels! i thinks some1 needs to know when to call it a day! mate have a read thu all the posts and you may catch on! good comedy value tho thanks for being such a silly billy! and were ever you go 2nite make sure u walk!
i cant believe this thread has progressed so much..........someone needs to book a college course for basic vehicle maintenance i think.....

went down to motorist discounts and they reckon it could be down to tyres?? they said tyres i should have are 195/45/17 and ones i have now are 205/40/17?? could that be right???
Also they reckon i should not have lost that top end also speedo is reading fine got some on to follow me up th a34 and the speedos matched.

Get it together. Go to Halfords on the cowley estate and get yourself a Hayes manual. Read it cover to cover. It doesn't even matter which one, they all cover basic maintenance.

I cant see that the width of the tyre is going to make any differance its the circumfrance (spelling) that will have an effect either way.
I should have vag-com in the next week or so, So if your still not happy then come down to oxford and ill scan it for you to make sure you have no faults which could be causing you issues.

changing the profile to "45" from "40" will only make matters worse on a 17" wheel.

ye i was!!!! And supa im actually from oxford Oxford OXFORD,lol im giving up on wheels im keeping them for a few weeks then handing them to girlfriend. Going to get some 16" with sum lowering springs. Got windows tinted today i have to say does not look bad payed £100 for everything, work and materials. Im not bothered about the speed no more i have come to realise i am still youngish and theres no point with speed as il never really get to use it anyways so instead all money is going on looks of car. And i have to say i dont think it looks that bad with the 17"rims the rear windows dark smoked tinted and front windows light smoked oh and of course the lexus rear lights and modified h/u with £250 ebay dvd player i have to say my friend has the pionner version and i really cant fault on mine theres nothing his does which mine doesnt. Looking to get the 8000k hids fitted in few weeks and dtm mirrors with indicaters after this just get exauhst and a nice £200 pipercross induction kit.

cruising at 100 on the motorway. thats so cool in a 1.4... you must be revving that engine to get to 115! do you like watching your petrol gague drain at that speed.....
anyway back on topic.
what you need to do to sort out your speed problem is
1) while car is off, and brake on. push clutch pedal in and remove the restrictor cable from the back of the clutch. this should make the clutch go in and stay in.
result +10hp
2) i would highly reccoment cleaning your 'heavy' nuts as a did this and it worked a treat for me and made my speed go up around 5-10 MPH.
3) i removed the front breaks as these just added unessasary wieght to the car, i now use the passanger and driver door as 'air brakes'.
4) eat a tin of baked beans, cut a hole around 1.1/2 inches in the bottom of it, (it is advisable to clean the tin out first). fit the newly cut baked beans tin over the end of your exhaust and duck tape in to place. (an easy 5 BHP out of these cars)
also adding vinyl stickers to the side fo your car adds a few extra BHP.
