How easy is it to change the alternator on these cars??

Im needing a new one as the bearings in mine are f:censored:d so they are whining etc. The alternator is still charging the battery though.

Also does anyone know where I will get a re-conditioned alternator from.

Am I right in thinking that its a 70amp alternator I need? Engine code is APQ

Thanks,

Craig.

Yes the alternator in the ebay link will fit. I'd know because its mine lol

I take it your ibiza 1.4 has power steering?

if yes then it will definately work.

None power steered polo mk4 and mk2 ibiza have a different casing so they can be adjusted.

On power steered models, theres a seperate pulley to tension the belt :)

Ive managed to pick up an alternator locally from an apq engine coded car.

So it should be easy enough to change on my own?? and I dont have to worry about the belt tension??

Want to try and gather as much info about it before I decide to change it. Dont get me wrong, I know how to use a spanner etc as Ive done maintenance units as part of my engineering apprenticeship, I just want to find out as much as possible before I do the change.
