Alternative MAFs

I was having a little rumage around on the net this eve and stubled across this... http://www.awe-tuning.com/pages/gallery/awe_rsk04/index.cfm

Now whilst 525bhp is impressive :D I couldnt help but notice their replacement MAF housing which eliminates the need for a Bosch element!

To quote the site....

The MAF housing uses the 2001-2002 S4 Hitachi mass air sensor through the use of an ingenious adapter plate. The kit adapts the much more reliable Hitachi sensor to the 2000 S4s, which originally come with a Bosch sensor. The adapter plate and the mass air housing are CNC machined from solid T-6061 aluminum and are anodized for long service.

Is this something worth looking into?

*Edit* After a quick google I found a link to the Hitachi MAFs....

no surprise there tho... too big a tube, signals out of step with mapping etc (too low a sensor signal on low end for resolution of sensor)

Aside from the oversized tube (for our cars its too big), I wonder what pin outs are on a hitachi air mass sensor compared to our bosch maf's.
non dbw 1.8T's have different air mass sensor (different pin out too mind you) so I wonder if the hitachi is older style or newer style setup.

interesting lead tho there mart..

0-5v output proportional to airflow is the important bit.
