Altea seized steering lock

My altea steering lock barrel has jammed.
After 5 weeks new lock barrel has arrived.
Question Seat say key fob has to be reprogrammed .
Local independent days no as only replacing mechanical lock.
Which is it?

They are likely assuming the barrel comes with a new keyfob and the blank fob would need programming, depends on the exact situation you're in, if they've sent a barrel that matches the car and the blade you have currently works with the new barrel you won't need to program, if the new barrel uses a new key fob and blade then yes it will need to program the new fob
