just had my car in for its 50,000 kilometers service 2 weekends ago - to a seat dealer. since then I have noticed its smoking a bit and the exhaust is sooty.

mabey its always been like this and i have only noticed now.

No Loss of Power and MPG have stayed kinda the same. Since servicing its done about 1,500 kilometers.

Any ideas, it usually happens if i push the revs in 3rd gear - so seems to be running abit rich but still getting almost 1,200 klm per tank of diesel

i think you tend to notice more on cars like the Altea as the exhaust doesn't point down to the ground. I doubt you could match a Fiat Bravo i saw yesterday, the back of the car was literally blacked out and looked like it'd been there for a while, he looked a bit boy racersish and i think he was proud of it, strange person.

I wouldnt worry too much as they all smoke a bit, unless it's excessive, mine seems to be smokey sometimes, clear others, probably fuel/temperature/amount of throttle/air filter condition etc etc all play their part.

By the way 1200km/744mile per tank is pretty spectacular, i'd let mine smoke all it liked if i got that MPG.

was the air filter changed??

dont think so - think he only gave a general service and changed oil plus filter. said everything else was ok.
