Alloys Refurbished

Due to some earlier 'kerb misjudgements' from my beloved, my lovely 18" alloys were needing refurbished/powdercoated. They've been away getting done since Monday and will be ready tommorrow :).

Thankfully the specialist (AutoImage based in Edinburgh) found some spare wheels for the week so I have not been without the Leon for the week which is a bonus - although each wheel has a different tyre....of different ages/mileage so it's been shocking to drive. Get above 60mph and the whole car vibrates - actually quite an unnerving eye opener!

Anyway, I've gone for Anthracite just to be different! I had the alloys of my Lupo GTi done in the same colour and it made a hell of a difference.

Cost £45 per wheel. I'm also getting the wheel nuts changed because the standard ones are just bollox and have discoloured.

Really looking forward to picking the car up tommorrow - I'll obviously take some pics and post them on here - will be interesting to hear your comments!

Pretty sure thay can bud. I rang them on Monday morning, they swapped the wheels at lunchtime the same day so cannae fault the service.

They send the wheels off to Glasgow - hence the week to do the work.

If they are anything like the anthracite finish on the wheels of my Lupo GTi they will look absolutely fantastic!

Cannae wait.

Shame their so far away. I've caught the near side rear on a high kerb/tight corner.

Thinking about taking them black. Just to hide all that nasty brake dust. ;)

In my LeonFR 2.0 TDI
i scratched one of my alloys, when my wheel scrubber broke during cleaning and the snapped end of the metal gouged 2". its only a hairline but once its spotted its quite apparent.

Pirelli P Zero have alot to answer for, no tyre wall protection at all, in fact the alloy rim protrudes off the rubber so it's more than likely to get spanked.

Dealer spanked one of my fronts before delivery, but got repaired, then last week leaving the hospital after visiting the missus spanked the rear o/s when going through the car park pay barrier, not impressed [:@]

Getting refurbed this week at the stealers as in for a warranty issue, two birds with one stone and all that.

Alas took the car but the chap wasn't happy with the match. He has taken an 18'' wheel from Seat and has promised to get a match by this time next week. He says any colour match is possible, and has just finished re-furbing a '78 Ferrari with strange shaded alloys. Await updates on wheel or me breaking into the unit to nick the '78 Ferrari..................
