Alarm Question.

Brought the Leon in to get the back window fixed last week and they gave it back to me while a motor is ordered. Its due back in this Thursday. But... (!) Now when I press the alarm, the indicators do not flash. It says in the owners manual that "When you lock the car the indicator pilot lights will only come on if the alarm has been properly activated (all security areas have been properly locked)"
The indicators definately did flash last week! So if he window has been deactivated (motor doesnt 'twirl' now), would this be enough to warrent that 'all security are not properly locked'?

Thanks guys...

Doors are definately closed properly!
When you press the alarm for the second time (to turn off deadlocks), does it make a noise? I thought it used to but it doesn’t now. Also, the LED in the door pin stops flashing when alarm is pressed the second time.
I just wanna make sure that the alarm is working its not left at risk. I mean, if the garage have switched it off and not told me, then they will be getting a b0ll!cking off me about it.

Do you have access to VAG-COM at all? Or do you know anybody locally with it? You can use that to check the status of your alarm and what has or hasn't been disabled.

Thanks for replies lads.
No access to VAG-COM I'm afraid. I could always bring it to a different place and ask will they just plug it in and tell me what the fault reads. Cant imaghine they'd charge too much for it. At least then I would have some positive information to back me up, rather than "I think my alarm has been disactivated"...

That's the problem.... if your alarm or any sensors have been disabled it wont show up as a fault code. If there is a problem with the alarm it will, but if it's simply been disable it wont.

Have you tried pushing the little button down by the drivers door, by the seat base, and then locking the car?

Haven’t tried that but I will go out and try shortly. I thought though that that button re-sets itself each time you open up the car again, so that it allows for leaving ‘bold kids’ in the car!

Nope:(
Hoped it was gonna work, but its still the same. The indicators dont blink when alarm is switched on. They do however blink when I turn off the alarm (and subsequently unlock the car).
Can anybody tell me if the locks make a noise on the 2nd press of the 'lock' button? (I'm convinced that mine did, but paranoia's setting in now!)

You should only ever press the lock button once. One press arms the alarm and activates the deadlocks, the second press de-activates the deadlocks, so don't do that.

I only realised this a few days after the salesman told me that two clicks is better than one! But for those few days, I'm pretty sure that you could hear the deadlocks disengaging, but when I press it twice now nothing happens... Now I is all confussed!

Hello, I had exactly the same problem on my previous leon following repairs to the front end of the car. After investigating the problem I discovererd the bonnet closed microswitch had not been fitted correctly. On refitting the said switch normal service was resumed. The alarm system will not arm if it detects an open door or whatever.
I guess that a sensor has been disconnected / incoreectly fitted when the repairs were carried out to the rear window.

Have you checked all the fuses?
Did think to as indicators work at other times, plus the remote key locks and opens the car. But I will, just to be sure

This would seem to be the answer. Although I think I should have been made aware that the alarm was not arming due to something that they had done.

Thanks a million guys for your help, very much appreciated.
