Alarm problems

I have a Mk2 Leon and its driving me mad. For the last month the alarm has decided to go off randomly although usually at night.
It's been into a local garage and so far had the interior sensor and passange door lock replaced. Both because the diags have been reporting that its been those setting off the alarm.
First the interior sensor was replaced, it made no difference. Then the door lock was replaced yesterday. After driving it to work and parking it, the alarm went off.
It's gone off again this morning at 8 am.

Any ideas? I am beginning to loose faith in my lovely motor.

Yep, I am sure it will get fixed. My problem at the moment is the noise. Alarm going off is a right pain. Anyone know if I can unplug the alarm horn? If so, where is it?

Doesn't locking with the key not set the alarm?
Or double press of remote not set the movement sensor?

I can't really remember

You will have to read your User Guide as it is too cold to go out and get mine :)

Not a problem setting it, it's just going off randomly. I have started sleeping with the keys so I can just unlock/lock the car from teh bedroom.
The alarm works, if I leave the kids in the car and don't double press the interior sensors kick off. It's just going off for no reason.

I don't want the alarm going off over the weekend so thought I may be able to unplug the siren to give the neighbours a rest.

Try pressing the lock button on the remote twice then only the volumetric sensor is deactivated and the alarm system remains activated. This will tell you if thats the fault or not.The alarm only switches off when deactivated via the key unlock button or the key is actually in the ignition according to the owners manual. The alarm is automatically locked when vehicle is locked..That seems to be the only way to fully deactivate it.
Also never continue pressing the unlock when key is out of range or it may knock it out of sync and you will have to get it reprogrammed.

I once had a similar problem years and years ago with a Land Rover Discovery. Ultimately after trying everything the dealer eventually replaced the ECU, which in combination with everything else that had been altered, it was cured. Didn't help that the vehicle was an import, but thats a different story!

Hope you get it sorted!!

Had the same problem last month dealer fitted new interior light and drivers side door lock alarm sensor, all ok. Never did find a way to isolate alarm ended up emtying the garage and leaving it unlocked at night in there. The air bag light also came on but I thaough this was to do with running the battery down with the alarm but the dealer fitted a new airbag. All done in the last 3months of the warranty luckly.
Have they checked the battery is not dead after the alarm going all these times?
Also when in for this work dealer found a fault with the exhaust which they said was there at manufacture so replaced this under warranty also, top marks to Seat in Crewe.

Picked the car back up today, it had a new CCU fitted on Tues but that didn't fix it. Had a passenger door motor fitted today as apparently this can cause the door to appear as opene when its not.

I hope this will be the end of it.

Leon alarm problem

Familiar story
I had the same problem about 4 weeks after picking up my new Leon.

Firstly I don't believe that you can lock the car and not set the alarm, so it needs to stay unlocked.

The door motor change should fix the problem. The story I was told was that there was a case of industrial sabotage after the designers of the alarm laid off a load of employees. The random gremlin was a farewell present from a disgruntled employee

I wasn't sure if I believed this, but it's a strange story for a main dealer to make up.

Anyway, the car is just out of warranty and the interior light has stopped working when the door opens/ car is unlocked.

Anybody seen this? Could be connected to the same flaky component

ummmmm
1. You can lock the car and disable the internal movement sensor by double click on remote

2. Is the interior light switch in the correct position?

Yes, I know about disabling the volumetric sensor but that isn't the problem. The alarm is still set even if you do this.

I (and my neighbours) know this as the alarm kept going off even when the internal sensor was dsiabled. The Seat dealer confirmed that there was no way of locking the car without setting the alarm.

As regards the light switch, Yes it is in the correct position. It was OK until my passenger switched the light on and off quicky. After that the interior light wouldn't come on when the door opened.

If you switch the light to "on" then lock the car the light switches off (like it is supposed to) so all the bulbs work.

I suppose the switch contacts could be broken in the mid position and not the on position.

I had it back to the the main dealer and they did a remote diagnostic with Seat (they say) but they don't seem keen to do any more without charging me.

I'm interested to know if this is a known problem and could it be related to the (known to be) flaky door motor. Might give me some ammunition when I come to argue with them.

I found an entry online where somebody had a similar problem with an Altea.

I have a bad feeling that mine is as well.

Well mine is 6 months out of warranty, but I'm in discussion with the dealer at the moment. They are taking the car in (again) to try to diagnose the fault. I'm pretty sure the last time the diagnostics showed a fault with the door motor.

If they try to charge me a load for it then I'll be pointing out their obligations under the Sale of Goods Act and see how that goes.

The expected life for this component has got to be more than 3.5 years!
