Alarm Problems

Hi all,

Have 03 tdi sport and having a really annoying problem with my alarm. It's started to randomly go off a minute or two after I use the key for central locking. Taken it to non-seat garage (cheaper) who took passenger door panel off and released a stiff door lock, but problem is still there (though annoyingly not every time after I lock it!!!)

Mechanic says could be a fault with any of the door / boot sensors, and has run computer tests (negative), so I guess I may need a new passenger side door lock, though I'd rather not pay out for this.

Anyone else come across this problem? Is it possible to disable the alarm completely - I wouldn't mind this as long as the doors lock properly.

Cheers

I had a similar problem tonight, my car would lock!
Not with buttons, not with the key in the door.
Then the headlights failed, then the sidelights failed, followed by the interior lighting - inc the dashboard!

It's going to Seat over the weekend for diagnosis.

If the interior light goes off EVERY time the doors are shut I would rule out the door open switches, I don't know if the bonnet and boot have switches for the alarm TBH but you can find out by opening them and see if the alarm goes off.

My money is on the interior monitering sensors (by the interior light) unplug them and see if that helps, if it does get a new set from a scrapyard.

My bonnet and boot do have sensors, i know because if i open my bonnet and then my car locks itself, when you shut the bonnet the lights flash and the alarm makes its armed noise.
Hope this helps.

Had the same problem with mine,it was corrosion on the pins in the plug for the boot switch.Located in the boot catch.Alarm was going off as it thought the boot was open.

Didn't do fault code check as not likely to show up any faults.Experience points to rear asher pipe off= water running into boot catch/alarm switch.Quick clean up and coat of vaseline, problem sorted.
