Alarm Keeps Going Off

Hi Guys…I have searched the forum and couldn’t find the answer so hopefully you can help? Since having a battery fitted about a year ago, randomly and usually during the night at about 3.00 am the alarm goes off. I have checked for spiders and flying things but the cabin area seems fine. The car is now my wife’s and we have owned the car from new (54 Plate) so know it’s not been abused or anything. Do I need to get rid of the car/wife so I can get a night’s sleep or is it an easy fix?? Ibiza FR PD130 just over 100,000 miles

Snip the wires to the siren. I did this to a toad alarm ages ago never looked back other option is to leave it open i have done this too but depends where you live.

It could be an easy fix but it's finding the fault thats the problem. Take it too an auto electrician you might be lucky and it could be something simple.

Cheers might have to do that....will be worth it for not having to find the keys in the dark and shut it up.

Unplug the interior sensor and see if that cures it. Or if you have it press the button inside the car to disable the interior sensor.

The sensor is under some trim up near the interior light.

Vag-Com will tell you exactly why the alarm was triggered if someone near you has it. Or you could buy an ebay cable for about 25 quid, download the free software and diagnose it yourself.

the switch will be just under your boot release handle. turn it off and see what happens

my guess is it could be door microswitch. do you still get the buzzer go when you open the door with your lights on?

Yes that works fine, Its very intermittent it will do it twice in one week then nothing for 2 weeks. I am off next weekend so will try everything posted to see if that fixes it

Thanks everyone for ideas. Will let you know if I can find out which one hopefully works.

what was the cause?

hi guys,

I am dealing with the same issue as described in this thread. Being on an island in the Caribbean it's not much worth bringing my car to the stealership. Hence my post here to see in which direction I could be looking. randomly the alarm goes off day /night no logics at all

thanks
