Hi people, ive been trying to fit an alpine 9831R stereo into my FR, upon not being successful i re-installed my old stereo only to realise i now need the code to get it to work (due to it having been disconnected from the battery), i got this car after my Ibiza sport was written off.... however there was no code written anywhere for the radio on any of the documents, i am wondering if there is a factory default?, i got mine from JCT600 in Bradford.
Can anyone help?

The dealer will have this on record if you quote them your registration number, name, address etc

I had to take the car in, have them take the radio out to get a number which they emailled to SEAT HQ in Milton Keynes, who gave them the code which they phoned to me a couple days later. It was free at the time, but the last time I was in the dealers, they had a sign saying they were now charging £13 for radio and alarm codes. :wtf:

Yeah?, there is no way i am paying when they should have made a note of the number in the first place, the car was a direct replacement after my last one was written off, so this car was deliered to me.

When i picked my car up when i first got it, the stealers kindly left a snap-on toolkit in the drivers door. It also had the tools to take the radio out so thats a bonus if i do decide to put an aftermarket one in :D

Iain that's crazy mate!
Which dealer were you in - Arnold Clark Seafield?

I'd got mine when they were at Sighthill, I phoned them, gave the service department my reg number (didn't even ask my name or address  ) and they told me it - I could've been anybody

Although the mechanic I went out for a run with (to point out my slipping clutch  ) seemed quite clued up & offered cheaper servicing after the warranty runs out ;) although it'll be going to Star anyway.

I'm pretty disappointed with the "free" service plan though, doesn't include air con service or replacing brake fluid as they're classed as consumables.

The salesman assured me I'd never have to put my hand in my pocket for a service...lying :censored: and he's left AC now, typical.

It was when they were still at Sighthill. It didn't cost me anything, but it was a bit annoying having to wait 3 days to get a radio in the car. Then again I suppose that's what happens when you don't buy from a SEAT main dealer. I got it from an AC Rover garage in Glasgow instead.

Don't get me started on the 'free' service plan. They fleeced too much from me for a set of front tyres back in January. I was having a bad day and foolishly agreed to let them do it for me because I just wanted it to be all over.

I'm still waiting on my mats to be delivered (since February) not impressed [:@]

I'm close to needing tyres too (94% worn according to AC's wallchart tyre guide - although how they can state that when different tyres start with different depths of tread is beyond me  ), they quoted me £160 each for Pzero Nero's and £93 for Firestones.

I can get the Nero's for £107 each from a friends tyre garage but away to look online now.

That's pretty low, I do 100 motorway miles a day which gives me loads of easy mileage, but have also been down the 1/4 a few times & some 'spirited' driving on twisty roads ;)

I've just found them for £76 inc P&P on mytyres.com :D
Remember that mytyres prices don't include fitting - budget around £10/wheel extra.
