Hello All, could you please advise me what these strange sounds coming from the ventilation in irregular cycles are? It's like a creaking, resonating sound when the ventilation is on. I hear it especially when the radio is off. Thanks for any advice.

It sounds like your ventilation system might have a few possible issues. Here are some common causes of creaking or resonating sounds:

Possible Causes & Fixes:

  1. Expanding & Contracting Ducts – If the noise happens when the ventilation turns on or off, it could be the metal ducts expanding due to temperature changes. This is normal, but if it’s too loud, adding insulation or flex duct sections might help.
  2. Loose or Misaligned Ductwork – Vibrations from the airflow can cause unsecured ducts to creak. Check for any loose connections, especially near vents or junctions.
  3. Debris or Dust Buildup – A buildup of dust, small objects, or even pests inside the ducts could create unusual noises. A duct cleaning might help.
  4. Worn Fan Motor or Bearings – If the creaking sounds irregular but frequent, the fan motor could be wearing out. Try turning the system off and checking if the sound stops. If so, a technician might need to lubricate or replace the motor.
  5. Ventilation Grilles or Dampers – Sometimes, vents or dampers aren’t fully secured and can create rattling or resonating sounds when airflow passes through. Try adjusting or tightening them.
