Air conditioning does not work

Hi the Aircon on my 2002 Seat ibiza MK4 1.9tdi does not work ( ASZ engine ), never has worked.
We check the gas/refigerent presure and thats OK apparently.
is there a common fault as I'm visiting a breakers on Saturday and have £100 credit note to spend. My friend thought there was an enviromental control unit and that might be the issue but I'm not sure.

Any thoughts anyone ?


also is there a easy way to reset the little mainenance symbol that keep appearing on the console ( little spanner )

Don't know about the air-con, service indicator is an easy one...

Spanner and OIL - engine oil change due;
Spanner and INSP - maintenance service due.

To get rid of them:-

Hold the trip computer reset button in with the ignition off, then turn on ignition (don't start the engine) whilst still holding the button in, just keep holding it in till the symbol dissapears.

had the same problem with my aircon a week ago it was working then just stopped all of a sudden the gas and pressure was fine in turned out it was the pulley that drives the unit that runs or the altenator belt etc. on the inside of the pulley that attaches to the motor is only nylon so it just wears away after x amount of miles so to get the new pulley fitted i also had to remove the perfectly good gas that was in there then refill it again wen it was fitted came to a pocket emptying 300 quid still cheaper than a new unit do. i think if it goes again it can stay broken. hope this helps you.
