Hi all
I'm currently driving a 1 litre petrol corsa 04 (thats right - unlimited power) and i'm looking to buy a Leon.
My knowledge is very limited, all I know is that I want a 2009 or newer face life model because the interior on the mk2's before the facelift was atrocious.
I went to one of the garages near me and took a 2012 1.6 TDI CR SE Copa (mk2) for a test drive. I wasn't expecting it to handle and pull as well as it did, but then again I suppose anything will pull well and drive well when compared to a Corsa.
So the reason for this thread - I'm looking for some advise as to which I should be buying - Petrol or Diesel, and what size engine.
I'm currently working 9.2 miles away, which is about 8.5 miles at motorway speeds. I am hoping to get onto a graduate scheme and will then be needing to drive up and down the country so i'm leaning toward a diesel, but with DPF issues and the fact that I don't really drive anywhere other than work, i'm not sure how feasible that is.
The 1.6 diesel I drove was fine for what I'd use it for, it felt lively when I put my foot down and I didn't have any trouble keeping up with traffic. So something around the same kind of power/torque would be ideal.
Oh yeah my budget is around £5000, with some flexibility on that.
Ideally i'd like a diesel without a DPF - how do you know which models have them and which don't? At the moment i've looked at getting 1.9/2l TDI or 1.4 TSI.
Any advice is much appreciated.
