I recently bought a face lift 2006 fr tdi and prior to picking it up they did a full inspection....so they say, anyway when i pull up onto the drive or hit a bump at slow speed it sounds as if my wheels are not secure/slightly loose just knocks.

Is this normal for an ibiza?

Oh and has anyone managed to get the front lights on their ibiza replaced under warranty because they hold water?

Thanks

the front lights have been covered several times. But to summarise

If they steam up - They wont do anything.
They will drill a hole in the back

If they hold water - They wont do anything (depending how much you moan - which I would moan alot)
They contact Seat UK and get them changed.

As far as suspension, it shouldnt be making that noise, its not normal for any car, nevermind a beeza matey! I'd take it to another dealer/stealer if you dont have much look with the ones you have bought the car from.

i had both headlamps replaced at the dealers they need to keep the car overnight as the apparantly have to take them off the car and run some tests if they prove to be bad enough they replace them! but my new 1s are starting to do the same thing so i wouldnt waste your time. do a search on tis situation as it has been discussed so many times.

as for the knocking it could be a hole range of things but im guessing it will be your top mounts or wheel bolts or lose or even a clunking spring  if you have only just bought it for christ sake why havent you moaned you have proof they aparantly inspected it and there is a problem so whatever you want goes mate!

think i leave the lights as they are, the knocking is not meant to happen especially seeing i have only had it a week (bought it with 7k on the clock) but......... i have remapped the car and fitted a Seat sports rear box to the car and not sure if i have shot myself in the foot with regards to the warranty?

these modification will certaily not affect your suspension or sterring so most seat dealers will do the work under warranty anyway definatly go and kick up a massive fuss im 99% sure theyl do somethung about it!!!

what remap have you got?

glad you mentioned that!!

ive only just bought a ibiza cupra tdi(done 1700 miles) and my car has a knocking from the suspension/steering when going over bumps and broken tarmac at low speed. I wondered if this was 'normal' but after reading i now know it isnt. Being as i bought it new from a seat dealer i hope there wont be any problems but i reckon that iam going to let a mechanic friend of mine drive it first see what he thinks it is so at least ill sound better when i moan at them
Please post the outcome mate cause i think it might be a couple of weeks before i get chance to go to the dealers cos of work
Cheers
my first post so hello to everyone
Has anyone else had this problem?? is this a common?

mmm...i get a knock from the driver's side front suspension when i turn right and pull away (i.e. from a junction, or parking etc). This has happened since i bought the car 7 months ago...problem is, its intermittent, and these are the worst faults to solve...i should probably get them to look at it really lol

I get the occasional knock from my front suspension aswell. I put it down to the extra weight in a diesel engine, low profile tyres and that I have a strut brace. I have checked it out myself and had others check it out on a few occasions but cant find a fault. Just learning to live with it. Pondered the problem with BJM on the forum and he has the exact problem and his is the exact same car. I wouldnt worry too much.

Yup I get this too on my rears, it might just be the bushes that need a good looking at?

Mines a 55 reg, less than 6k miles, and im thinking about putting mine in. This will be the 5th time its been in since I bought it in July. Excellent cars just not put together very well!

I get this to!

56 FR diesel, its mainly when going around corners over broken tarmac or when pushing it really hard and getting a little bit of understear.

Sounds like its from the drivers side but it comes through the stearing column, like a rattle/knocking.

Was going to pop mine down to the stealer but I mean its a hard thing to reproduce---- maybe antiroll bar?

Anytime mines goes in they just pack the bushes with grease. May look at uprating them at some point.

Leon's used to do it a lot caused by anti roll bar links worn

damn speed bumps and potholes :) mind you plastic links dont help either

could be similar it sounds like it

surely not all these cars have drop link problems?? check the rubber boots on the arb drop links to see if they are split tho. sounds to me asif bad design if the suspension is under a certain load it knocks on something
